For such a simple question, you need to ask many more things.

1. Do you already have a cat in your house? If so, you need to look at the cat's personality. Does it like other cats? You can't force cats to like eachother.

2. Who comes to your house? If you have a family member who's allergic, afraid, or just hates animals that comes to your house frequently...you may have some problems there. You don't want to keep yourself from having a furry playmate, or running off anyone.

3. I've found from experience that boy cats make wonderful inside pets. Females tend to get bitchy as they get older. Males, on the other hand, will 90% of the time be the most friendly and nuzzling kind.

4. On the contrary to number three; I've also seen male and female cats get along in the home. As long as they're BOTH fixed, you won't have a problem. From what I've seen, more than one male in the home (vice versa with all girls) will tend to get rough more with eachother. My Dad has 4 cats in his home, 3 boys and a girl. One of the boys (the biggest) buffalos all the other boys but the girl stands her ground and pummels him if he bugs her too much. :)

Plus, if you can handle all that ruff-housing in the middle of the night, go ahead and get two if you can stand stampeding at 2:00AM. ^_^ I think it's funny to listen to as long as they're just playing.

I had a dog and a cat. The dog died a few years ago and the cat appeared to be looking for his friiend. He became very vocal as if to say, where is she. Anyway, we decided the cat was lonely so adopted a second who was approximately a year younger and the same sex. They hit if off instantly. They play together, fight once in a while, groom each other, nap together and eat together. They're brothers and absolutely adorable. So I think two cats is better. It helps them with sociability and also if there house cats, increases their activity level.

i think its better to have two cats because that way they have someone to play with! If you only have one cat the cat is gonna be more lonlier! Unless your around all the time!

It's my opinion that any animal is happier if it has a friend, so two cats are definitely better than one and you'll get tons of free entertain watching them play.

It depends on the type of cat....If you have one that just hangs around and sleeps all day and wants your attention at night just stick with one...because I had that type of cat and got another one and its not pretty one wants to play and the other wants to sleep.

its better to have 2 cats together because they can keep each other company. if you just have one cat, it'll get bored and might be destructive. so, its better to have to have two cats.

Two would be nice for the cats but keep in mind that they will bond with each other and not you.
