How can they go around banning different fields of science if they are just a little against their bible. Luckily all they know is evolution, because if they actually decide to learn about the different fields of science, they would find a whole bunch of stuff that doesnt agree with the bible. Lol I better keep my mouth hush hush
Dont you guys know that how much our country needs to compete with other countries in terms of technology and scientific advancement. Without it we would be in deep trouble.
If we ban things like stem cell research, then dont blame the scientists if nobel prizes for curing major diseases are awarded to other poor countries, cause guess what, they dont have bans, but they can get funding. If we start banning research, then the rich companies can easily fund another country
Dont u guys realize that with the money this country has, we are not really that advanced in term of years, publications and developments.
Oh well too bad you didnt know

Would a conservative talk about stem cell research and problems with christians? I dont think so. I got no problem with funding poor countries, I'll change it now.

ok i misunderstood the first guy's answer, it's late here. I'm just making a point. I care about scientific advancement but international funding has problems, and sometimes it costs a lot more just setting up communications with them and dont get me started with all the deadlines.

ok to the guy saying against embroyonic stem cell research vs regular. Have u even done any of theis stuff or know people. These researches usually require A LOT OF CELLS per trial. There is never enough available thats why people have to make them. And believe me, making them, is a lot cheaper than buying the left overs of some already made or aborted fetus, and also a lot easier

of course they are not banned yet, thats my point, but it doesnt help if every geneticist receive hateful remarks for their work and christians wont give up their never ending battle. Just because it's not banned now, it doesnt make the scientists feeling any better.

fields of science is probably a little too broad. I'll just go with subfields. I did not say ban them, because the christians simply arent educated enough to know them yet.

who said anything about christian scientists, the people i am referrinf to are lobbyists and politicians who try to ban researches. As far research on how many christian scientists out there, I dont have to, I am in the science world veryday and rwading over publications. I know who's who okay. And according to your bible these christian scientists problably broke a lot of rules already. They just dont share your point of view.

Many Christians are these scientists. Don't think that Christians are trying to ban every scientific advancement. Some of them do disagree with certain types of research such as stem cell because it uses the stem cells of aborted fetus' (babies). I understand this. I think the research is important but I would like to see them use the stem cells from a birth as those are just discarded. This could help eliminate some of the controversy on this research. As far as evolution what research is needed on that? That is mainly a Paleontologist job not scientist.
Do you realize that many of the scientist who advanced organ transplants are Christians. And the scientists that work on artificial hearts are to? You are not very good at understanding you fellow citizens if you think everything can be so lumped by groups. Science is not atheist vs Christians. It is a lot of different INDIVIDUALS with a lot of different views and beliefs.

What field of science did any Christian group ever ban?
In Kansas, Christian groups were trying to get intelligent design taught alongside evolution, not stopping the teaching of evolution.
Stem cell research has not been banned, only the public funding of fetal stem cell research. There are plenty of stem cell research programs going on with private funding.
The founders of almost every major field of science, even evolution, were founded by Christians. It is only in the last 100 years that you all have decided we shouldn't be around at all.

Don't worry. Things will change dramatically in the next 10 years, We will get our life saving stem-cell research. I know there will be a loophole created to satisfy the needs of millions. It has just been delayed.Just consider that the average American intelligence is around 100. Ignorance will not prevail. Have a nice day and show compassion toward the ignorant.

Many scientist are Christians. Government regulates policy not religion. An unborn child should not have to die to save another life if it were so then soon we would be killing those already born to save those that could afford to pay the price. One would eventually lead to the other. If you are really in science you are not very good at it. You should think about getting more education or get into another field. You have a lot of hate in your heart and are trying to spread it around.

I agree 100%. I say, let the Third World get a corner on the stem cell research industry. Every pregnant AIDS infected woman will gladly allow her eggs to be harvested and/or embryo aborted for the pittance paid to her so she may buy a bowl of rice. Within 10 years, the Third World masses that swarm in such numbers today will have dwindled. Think of the secondary benefits to such a system....

last me ask you this question if we cured every disease and banned everything dangerous and and everybody lived to old age how would we feed cloth and house all these people. Yes its sad when it happens but people need to die that is why we call it life. So what, stem cell research is banned in the U.S. Who cares if some other country research's it the U.S still leads the world in Health Care. If you don't believe that visit a hospital in another country.

I think you have to distinguish between the more ordinary Christians and the extremist zealots.
It is sad to see the political debate get bogged down into the swamp of blaiming the other and name calling and refusing to see where the corruption is .
Each person has a reason for seeing the world the way they do and it will take coming together in a united need and with more practical goals to get any changes at all

ur an idiot ... we read the bible symbolically and literally...and we arent against stem cell research...we r against EMBRYONIC stem cell research cuz thats when u start to kill life...there are plenty of scientists and researchers curing things through stem cells from placentos etc etc etc...get ur facts right before u start blaming Christians for hurting the country...it morons like u who are causing the gradual destruction of morals and ethics in this country, and that is what will ultimately lead to the downfall of this country.

It would be real nice if before you run your mouth, you would actually do some research. If you would do that, you would find that it is Christian scientists who are making the largest strides in advancing science in all scientific fields.

What's wrong with poor countries getting nobel prizes? It seems you're most concerned with competing against other countries instead of actually doing any good to mankind, which is bad as being a conservative.
