I prefer to use a wooden spoon for sauces and it's definitely better when using non-stick cookware. If I'm making something sticky in a regular dutch oven or skillet, I'll use a metal spoon because they're easier to clean.

Wooden spoons are great because they don't scratch your precious non-stick pans, son't scortch at high heat, and are easy to clean. The down side, though, is that if you're mixing something heavy, like pie crust or thick batters, the handle can snap. I really like my high temp resistant plastic spatulas. They work for almost everything!

I have heard that in cooking spagetti sauce to use a wooden spoon so as not to bruise the sauce.

it all depends on what you are cooking i generally use a metal one with a covered handle because wood spoons can absorb flavors as well as lots of germs but thats my personal opinion

Yes! Because plastic spoons are made from fire retartant chemicals and can cause cancer, so can non stick frying pan's, I try to avoid them.
