If you mean "ancestral paths" to refer to his religion or believe system, then my answer is that he is a Muslims. But at that time his teaching was known as "Hanif" [the Pure Religion"].

If you ask about his race, then my answer is that he is from Adam. Before Abraham, there are no Arabs and Jews. Arabs and Jews races are decendants from Abraham.

Ancestral path before Abraham... well I'm an evolutionist, so I'm not even going to try to explain that part. After Abraham that depends on what part of the bible you want to believe. The bible is full of contradictions as evident by:

Abraham had only one son.

Hebrews 11:17
By faith Abraham when he was tried, offered up Isaac, ... his only begotten son.

Genesis 22:2
Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, ... and offer him there for a burnt offering.

Abraham had more than one son.

Genesis 16:15
And Hagar bare Abraham a son: and Abram called his son's name, which Hagar bare, Ishmael.

Genesis 21:2-3
For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son is his old age .... And Abraham called him Isaac.

Genesis 25:1-2
Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah. And she bare him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.

Galatians 4:22
Abraham had two sons; the one by a bond-woman, and the other by a free woman.

Take you pick... the bible will let you justify any point as long as the person your arguing with doesn't know of the contradictions. If they do know of the contradictions, then you could still respond that they misunderstood the passage and act dismissively. They'll think your an idiot but if you stick to your delusion they will eventually leave you alone.

Abraham is from the off spring of Shem, (Noahs` oldest son). Noah lived after the flood 350 years, that was a long, long time after the flood when the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth begot children and their many off springs after the flood, then there was the building of the tower o Babel, Genesis 11: 1-- 9 tells us how God came down and confused the language, (which was then, one language and one speech) and scattered the people abroad from there upon the face of all the earth.Gen. chapt.11: verse 10 tells us about the generation of Shem,(Noahs` oldest son) leading down to Abram verses 25 & 26 Terah was Abrams Father. God later changed Abrams name to Abraham, and he is now known as the Father of faith.

Abraham was separated from the country of Ur and later from his nephew Lot .
He had two sons.
One by Hagar which started the Arab nations and
one by Sarah, which was Issac, the "promised" son.

Isaac in turn had Jacob who was later called Israel. From Israel descended the 12 tribes of Israel.

So, in the natural, Abraham was a grandfather of both Arab and Jewish nations.
