I also have a 1999 V-6 Mustang. I had the same problem with the knocking and pinging and then it started to let out white smoke from the exaust. The problem was fixed with a valve job. The pinging if it is really noticeable is NOT normal. The V-6 mustangs are really not made to race with alot of high revs or redlinning it.

Try using a higher octane gas for a tank to see if that will solve the problem. If it does, it's not your valves. Go to a parts store then and get a fuel additive that will remove carbon deposits from the engine.

you're going to need a T1 speedy kit and an intercooler(if that's no longer protected). frequently each and everything you want is protected. the kits frequently run between $1000-1500, so assume to pay multiple funds. in case you could not wrench, assume to pay about the same value for the setting up. thinking the price of all this, that is a hell of a lot more low-priced to in ordinary words promote your automobile and purchase the GT. besides, the V6 autos won't be able to even do one hundred twenty with the inventory ecu governor and kit ratios.
