Believe it or not, I have thought a lot about this over the years.

Being raised a Texan, I know for a fact that I would go back to 1836 and die fighting at the Alamo. The cause that drew men of all cuts of cloth - famous, infamous and unknown; rich and poor; American, Irish, German and Mexican - still has that magnetic pull that draws men to it today. To be amongst men who believe in a cause so much that they chose certain death in honor over possible escape is what inspires me to be the best I can be when fighting for our nation today.

REMEMBER THE ALAMO!!

Battle:

We set up defenses for an ambush along the side of the road.
The enemy travels by and we engage.

A fierce fire fight ensues. The enemy retreats along the flank of the vehicles. They go through our allies on the other side like a hot knife through butter. No-one was killed 2 people have some abrasions from tripping over a rock.

Several minutes later the fighting is over and only 6 of an estimated 15 enemies lay dead. We regain our ground and reinforce the lines. Suddenly a loud crack passes over head. It was a 7.62mm ball round from an AK-47. The even louder is the sound of an RPG that burns through the air and destroys one of our LAVs.

The fight is on.... again. We lay suppresive fire on the other side toward the other side of the 2x2 lane highway. We notice 4 other vehicles coming from the left flank along the enemies side of the road.

Someone calls for an air strike on the incomers cooridinates. Fire continues to crack the air and I launch a grenade trough the 203. It lands beind the enemy, too far to do any good. The arch isn't shallow enough to land clean on them.

The air fills with a pleasent sound. It's an AV-8B Harrier II flying by. He's already overhead and should have dropped the bomb. The earth rattles as 3 of the incomers trucks were destroyed. They drove too close together, fools.

One truck remaining and now they have emptied their men into the fray. We still havn't taken an casualties. This is a good day.
Grenade!, one of our men yells. The quick pound of the grenade is more nerve rattling then the GBU-16 from the harrier.

It landed short. Suddenly several rounds burst from behind me as Jazer opens w/ the 50 Cal. A dreadful quite calms us all as the last brass falls. There are no enemies left.

This has been a good day.

My perfect battle one where no-one is too badly hurt and we win against the odds. Hope you liked the story it is a modern battle.

Forest at night. I'm deaf so I use my eyes a lot more so I am more use to using my sight when in dark. I also have lived in city in middle of forest, rock climb all of the time, swim in river, get know to forest, etc... beside that I'm a semi pro fighter so I'm more experienced and trained at hands to hands combat than most average mr. Joe. I would also probably do better at sniper due to my sight.
