Food is food to an insect. Put your dog's food bowl inside a bigger bowl with some water in it. The ants can't cross the water to get to the food.

Well logically you'd throw the contaminated food out, I'm sure your pet is very near and dear to you so take care of him/her and next time put the bag in a sealed container you can get something like the big popcorn tin cans with the lid or if its a huge dog food bag you can store it in a brand new trash can with a lid on top so that it stays fresh, clean and insect free. Nothing should happen to your dog if you gave it the food with ants in it since its just a little more protein but why make your pooch uncomfortable, you wouldn't want anyone to serve you a plate of food with creatures crawling all over it would you?

The perfect nutrition for dogs is also the perfect nutrition for ants. People could even live on the stuff, you'd just need fruit and vegetables.

probably cuz ants get hungary and theyll eat whatever they can, which in some instances happens to be dry dog food

YOU GOT to be in the SOUTH!! Fire Ants JUST LOVES any food we eat, or our pets eats!! Take some SEVEN dust and put all around your pets food dish if it eats out side........ IF YOU CAN LET your pet eat inside!!!! FIRE ants are very smart and can TAKE over any pets food supply!!--even bird feeders.... Most Fire Ant killer is NO GOOD! YOU have to use the stuff that is made to kill termites!!!! THAT will kill them..... GOOD LUCK!!!!! JOdi

they like dry dog food for the same reason they like garbage they dont know any better it all food to them. they can lift twice their own weight doesn't mean they are twice as smart as brain size

because it's food, ants will eat almost anything, even other dead insects (yuck)
