whats with all the hypocrisy?

i lived in a mission school as a child. now i am older, but the evidence against the priests and brothers over the years is obvious. now how can this church pretend that homosexuality is wrong and practice differently. the very thing that is being railed about by the church and openly condemned is widely practiced.

I suspect that your experience was with the catholic church. If so, they also practice rape and murder as well as attacking young boys.

Study your Bible and find a church that keeps the commandments of God and that practices what it teaches.

You basically just describe the world's religions. There is one though, that is actually quite honest...look hard enough and you'll find it. It's beautiful (hint it is a Christian religion). I mean you have to believe that there is a true religion out there. After all, the Bible and Jesus himself describe the money hungriness and hypocrisy that would be evident in world religion.

Are you confusing homosexuality with paederasty?..they are quite different.

Paederasts pray on little kids... it's a power thing and there are probably far more heterosexual paederasts than homosexual ones. It's probably just easier for a male priest to gain access to a male child in places like schools and care homes etc.

Homosexuality is usually between consenting adults and does nobody any harm...

I think your question is a confused one but I think you are trying to ask something worthwhile here even so.

It still is wrong according to the church. Just because morons do stupid things doesnt change what the Bible says.

The bigger problem is that the church doesn't allow priests to get married. This a totally unbibilically based doctrine. It never is required. It just says "I wish you all were as I am" not "Thou shall be celibate heads of church"

I'm sorry that the Church is so disappointing. It is flawed because it contains humans, and none of us are close to perfect. I know that there has been alot of priests that have done messed up stuff, but they will be judged even harsher because they are priests. Also, don't think Christianity is contained in one denomination. Don't give up on God.

Unfortunately, people (or the news media rather), tends to focus only on the bad stuff, and almost always ignores the good stuff. You can see it yourself, next time you watch the news. See how much of it is "good", and see which reports they show that seem "bad", esp. regarding Iraq. They'll always focus on "OMG soldiers/civilians died there!", but rarely will they talk about the way soldiers are trying to help rebuild their communities, to help them get back on their feet, donating clothes/items to poor civilians.

Same thing with this topic. You'll notice they only focus on people that have been doing bad things, they don't talk about the ones who are doing good stuff, because apparently people just want to see bad things on the news (esp. when it comes to religion). Yes, there are bad eggs everywhere, but you shouldn't automatically assume that "OMG that one guy is BAD, therefore everyone else in that religion is also EvIL!"

Unfortunately, that seems to be the reaction people have, and it's hard to shake once you've established a certain mentality people have about things.

funny that the nonjudgmental faiths of the world, like buddhism and taoism, are not renowned for pedophilic priests, while Christianity and Islam are rife with them.

simply because the Priests are very often "priests" because they are homosexual. They think that they can hide and not have to deal with their sexuality if they go that path..what happens is that they begin to act out and are uncontrollable..hence, the molestations and the indoctrination of more confused children. I'm sorry that it happened to you too.
