Look, I know you're trying to save me from hell and all that but think of it this way: you've learned from childhood to treat others as you would like to be treated... now, think... when was the last time you were pressured by other people to convert to their religion? And I don't think that "God's plan" is to send half the people on this earth to hell. So come clean with me... I wanna know, 'cause it's been buggin' me for a long time. Base this answer on your own experiences and personal beliefs (not what your pastors taught you).

I've never tried to convert anyone in my life. I believe what I believe. I have no reason to convince you!

God doesn't send anyone to hell first of all you send yourself to hell.

I myself as a Christian don't try to convert anyone. I want to tell people about what I believe in, it's an amazing thing! And Yes I would love it if someone considered my religion but I won't force it down anyones throat ever, I believe when you do that and that person does accept Christ they did it because you made them not because they wanted too which results in an un-healthy relationship with God. I also love to hear about other peoples religion, not that I would ever believe it, God is my one and only, but I love hearing about it.

And I hate it when people say why do Christians always shove religion down peoples throat, because I don't do that, I know some might, but they're doing it because they care!

Personally I haven't tried to convert anyone. If religion should come up in conversation, I only try to point out that Jesus' teachings are about love and tolerance and anyone who discriminates, hates or tries to dominate people just because they are different are not following Jesus' teachings.

However, there is a reason Christians try to convert everyone else. Christians were commanded to teach Christ's word in the Gospels. Matthew (28:18-20): "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit." Mark's version is harsher: "Go into the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized shall be saved, but he who does not believe shall be condemned." (Mark 16:15).

Many Christians take this seriously -- and literally.

Personally, I don't. I think that if you believe in loving your neighbor and doing good and not bad, even if you are not a Christian, a kind and compassionante God would not condemn you but reward you in the hereafter.

"Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart....Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself..." (Matthew 22:37-40) If you follow those commandments (or try to) then, I believe you are following Christ's teachings. And I believe God would rather have a person who lives a good life than one who says they are a Christian but who behaves like a barbarian.

You don't think it's God's plan to send people to Hell? Well then how else are people going to be saved than to be told the Truth? Of course it wasn't His intention for people to go to Hell, it was His intention to save them. Jesus came and died for us all and the work of a Christian is to spread that word. It is true that we want to help save as many as possible, but we also know that the person will have to be convinced by God. Therefore, it's only the Christian's job to plant the bug in the ear of those around him/her and to help guide if the person comes around and during all of that, pray for that person.

This answer is brought to you by my own personal opinions and experiences. As someone who is not religious nor believes God is religious, I would have to say that it was not inspired in any way other than the Almighty Himself.

I'm a believer and I myself get a sick feeling in my stomach when uninvited folks pressure people who aren't wanting it. It's like trying to force the petals of a flower open because you want it to bloom. I think there's good intention but nobody is asking "is this person interested?". A person has to hunger for it first. We Christians would be much better off living an attractive life that caused others to hunger for what we have.

For one thing, it would be silly to try to convert each other.
For another, they are commanded to carry the Word into the whole world.
And third, its easier than massacring people into it the way the Muslims have done

You're a typical pseudo intellectual who wont pick up the Book and find out what it says before you start preaching your version of the Truth.

No one has ever pressured me into a religion, why? because the abrahamic religions is the largest. i dont know of any hindu's or buddhist living near by that i can talk to.

personal beliefs? i think that every major way of thought ( even atheist) try to claim they have the answers, and they dont. Its up to you to find your answer, because when your old and grey and about to die or we start a war and massive nukes go off everywhere, your going to have to believe in what you believe is correct, cause it should comfort you( imo )

It wasnt God's plan to send anyone to hell but Satan, its the consequence for following him

im fine with someone trying to push a religion on me, it would be fun seeing some one go against God

This basically talks about your main question.

I want to save people from the building that is going to explode

Trust me, you will not go to hell if you do not follow a particular religion. I'm sure god would want you to experience life and learn from your experiences. Just dont listen to these people, they can sit around freaking out about other ppl not following their religion while you get on with your life.

well I haven't been taught diddly from my childhood I didn't know about God until college which wasn't but a few years ago. I thank God that someone was brave enough to share their faith with me. I am sorry if you feel like we push our relgion on you. We do truly just not want to see anyone go to Hell at least thats why I talk about God. Also my answer is no I wouldn't like people trying to convert me to another religion, but I am not here asking questions about it either, but I don't see nearly as manny threads about trying to convert people to be Christian as I do many other religions or atheists. Its like why does everyone always pick on us. I think people pick on us and fear us, becuase they fear the trugh, but that truth is Jesus Christ and He came to set you free from sin, from a life of slavery to sin and to restore you back to your creator. People are always scared of the truth.

Well it does come down to the fact that we really do know that God is real. And we beleave what the bible say's. And since we believe in God and his word, and we love him (that's the imortant part) we want to do what makes him happy. And in the bible it's says clearly that we should share the good new's. Really to a non christian i can see how it doesn't make sense. But if you give it a chance it will slowly.
