I want to have a more of an understanding of the way conservatist christians think, like why they consider homosexualism to be bad or to be a sin against god, and why they don't accept and allow homosexuals to be in their churches when christians are supposed to be loving and accepting of all people, as Jesus taught us to be, and instead push these people away saying that the only people they will allow are heterosexual people.

Allow me to correct a couple of misunderstandings you seem to have. First, conservative Christians do not prohibit gays from coming into church. We are to be loving, but that does not mean to condone behavior.

Now, the thinking behind conservatism is this: We generally take the Bible to mean what it says. There is a balance in that. When a passage is poetic, we treat the passage poetically. When the passage is instructional, we take it as it was intended. When there is a command, we try to obey it. That is what we mean by taking the Bible literally.

In the time of Jesus, the world was quite wicked. Jesus told the world the way it was: "The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify against it that its works are evil." (John 7:7)

Now, as Christians, we are called to be a city on a hill. We are to demonstrate God's love. But, before a person can honestly receive the good news, they must first be convinced of their condition. All are sinners. Whether or not they are homosexual. The problem is, most homosexuals don't believe that they sin when they practice their sexuality.

So, the Christian, when sharing their faith, should follow Jesus' method. Let people see who they are as if judged by the law, so that they can then receive the good news as good news. The good news is only okay news if you don't believe that you need a Savior.

I won't go into the numerous Scripture passages that deal with the topic of homosexuality. You probably have heard them. They are in both the Old and New Testaments. The conservative takes them (along with all the others that deal with debauchery, wickedness, lying, stealing, murder, etc.) and calls them for what they are. Sin. No one is immune.

We are told that those who live in unrepentant sin will not inherit the kingdom of God. Conservatives believe that. We tell people about their sin so they won't have to die in their sin. Is that such a bad thing? If a doctor diagnosed someone with a terminal illness, but was afraid to tell them because it would make them sad, would the doctor be doing the right thing? Of course not! He's supposed to tell the patient the truth. And sometimes, the truth hurts.

Anyway, that's the conservative view from my point of view. I hope I helped you understand us better.

This is not a liberal or conservative issue. Depending on how you define "sin" (my answer will be different than most)...original Christians believed sin to be a separateness from God.

If by liberal you mean that you want to interpret God's law your way instead of God's way, then that is simply defying God.

The problem any homosexual has is not believing God can cure him/her. The Orthodox church teaches sin is a type of sickness and Christ is the Great Physician.

There are several homosexuals that go to my church, and they are loving received into our church. We are all fighting demons and sin. But I promise you, they are fighting against that sin. (Fornication and lust in any form is just as bad.)

The problem with modern society is that it won't allow God to be God. Everyone thinks that if you have an urge, you have to fullfill it, or it makes you "judgemental" (wooooo...terrible label!)

If God is who you say He is, don't you think he can deal with any sin that befalls you? Why is homosexuality any worse of a sin, than say bigotry? Or hating conservatives? Or hating George Bush? (Oh, it's ok to hate George Bush?)

Ha, we should all search for God's will and humility.

Im a chirstian from Australia, and I think that the church can be judgemental at times. We have have sin in our life, and christians motto should be hate the SIN not the SINNER, since we all have failed God we need to not stand in Judgement of each other, and the fact that God doesnt even stand in Judgement. I see NO problem with Homosexuals being in the church... however it cleary states in the bible that man and woman were made to have kinship together not man and man... Jesus loved all the sinners, and that's what we as chirstians should do, then we wont drive them away and the holy spirit can do him work in people.

Christians are against homosexuality because it is against God's will just like murder and adultery are. Just like any other sin, homosexuality separates one from God. It is wrong in Christianity because God says it is. He laid down the law concerning sin and we are here to follow it. God loves us all unconditionally including the murderers, adulterers and homosexuals but he does not love what they do. We as Christians should not turn any one away but try to steer them in the right direction; towards God and His way. We have no right to judge (Matt 7). Take the example of the the prostitute that was about to be stoned by an angry mob. Jesus said "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone". Jesus was the only one standing who had the right to stone the prostitute but He said to her "Go and sin no more". We are all sinners but God has made a way for us to be freed from the bondage of sin and His name is Jesus.

I've been asking the same question over and over and over again. I understand to some people it's seen as wrong, but at the same time that's their perception. Not everybody believes in the same thing, and some just don't accept that. They call themselves Christians but they portray hatred and ignorance against others not like them. They say they only preach the word, but then they browbeat others with their opinions of what their God is like. My God is different, yet no one accepts that I don't have to believe in the same thing they believe in, and by judging me and condemning me to hell, they are assuring themselves a seat right next to me. I don't understand it, and maybe I never will.

And homosexuality is not due to molestation or anything else. I know people who are gay and never went through that, so that's not a valid argument. And the argument about it being in the bible isn't valid either. Not everybody believes in the bible. What's the story now?

While I admit the homosexuals get unfair treatment being God sees all sin the same. Any unrepented sin will send you to Hell. I could never vote for a liberal bacause my moral values clash with everything they stand for. I have enough of my own faults to answer for without trying to defend the fact that I would have supported abortion. The liberals use that as one of their main election platforms. The woman's right to murder babies. When you get to stand before God ask Him what He thinks about partial birth abortion and the fact that you were for it and make sure you explain clearly to Him that the baby that was almost out wasn't really alive yet because they sucked the brain out before it came all the way out. Good luck with that. Wish you well. Bad plan, really bad plan. And you should really check to be sure the God you are talking about is the one in the bible and not one you conformed to meet you needs. Homosexuals are allowed in any church as long as they are trying to turn from their sin. Everyone deals with their own sin. God will know the difference.

Jesus was a liberal.

Everyone was stoning Mary and he stopped it.

If he were around today, would he be tending to AIDS victions (lepards)?

But to your question. Conservatives hold to the oldest, most traditional values they can.

The Amish, that's a true conservative!

They build with no nails. Tounge and groove!

Dresses and skirts. Conservative girls are supposed to wear them (of course if you're REALLY conservative, so should men, Jesus wore a ROBE or DRESS).

Beards. Unmarried men are supposed to wear them.

Homosexuality. It's frowned upon in the Bible, but so is Fornication and Jesus saved Mary from being stoned at the city gates as the Laws of Moses dictated.

If Jesus could oppose the death penalty for fornication and playing whore, then what of Homosexuals?

Conservatives say stone them, liberals say God will judge.

Get the picture?

I am a Christian and i am conservative, not because I hate homosexuals, bu because I care about them.
I feel by allowing them to marry each other i am saying, you know what your sin is ok as long as your happy for the moment, even though iknow in the long run your sin will cause you much heartache and guilt.
I believe however many conservatives just hate gays and use the Bible for thier own agenda.
Hate the sin of homosexuality not homosexuals.
Never push someone out of a church for being homosexual, but to not condown thier sin as ok, let them know you disagree with thier sin, but care about them.
God Bless

Good luck!! LOL

I've never understood how you can be a "conservative" and still be a christian. Would any good christian support wars of oppresion, persecution of the gays, or my personal favorite: corporate greed?

You have brought up the best point, the current persecution of the homosexuals.

Many point to the bible and say "but it says here that sodomy and sex for fun are a sin". Well, maybe it does, but that's never been limited to homosexuals.

I look at it this way: there are 10 commandments and being gay isn't mentioned in any of them.

So, where is the persecution of adultery? Do we treat our friends and neighbors who cheat on their spouses the same way we treat the gays?

NO, we love them and understand them and try to show them the right way to God. God will forgive cheating bastards who went before him and made a promise to "love, honor and cherish till death do us part". He is a loving God and loves everyone equally, even the sinners; just not the fags, he hates those people! they destroy marriage and teach our children that sex outside of marriage is OK. LOL, it's just so funny to me.

Jesus said, "one cannot serve two masters. You cannot love both God and sin. Either love the one, or hate the other". Homosexuality breaks the natural law of nature that God set forth from the beginning. If God is against something, it's not wise to be "for" it. I don't hate homosexuals, I simply hate when people try and justify their favorite sin.
