Any twit that thinks humans will develop anything to "overcome" mother nature is an idiot. We can overcome, war, pestulance, famine, even disease. But to think we can stop a rock the size of Texas hurtling to earth at 18 miles a second, or drop a big icecube in a volcano, or make a big fan to blow the Hurricane out to sea, is fantasy. Now and Forever!

Every helping inventions for increasing the life of existing species will help to sustain or enhance living conditions. On the other hand whatever invention destroys the nature either in the form of air, water, land, atmosphere and heat, there is bound to be counter action for nature has to maintain its checks and balances. It depends what we want to do, with science, improving the natures plenty or trying to alter them, the end result will be known destruction or better life.
