With your camera being 8MP, you would choose the highest quality jpg setting....I would buy at least two smaller cards...1GB each (Sandisk Ultra II or Extreme III)...even a portable backup device(20-30GB harddrive, which are fairly inexpensive) to transfer images to regularly...great for travel because then you can literally take thousands of pics and lots of video if you want to. You should never rely on just the one card and you should always backup your pics. If the 4MB card died, then you will have nothing.
A good rule is to format your card regularly or everytime you delete the pics (from the camera) to prevent errors.

Check with your User Guide, or Casio customer service, or the store where it was purchased to determine the largest card SD memory card your camera can use.

If you take all the pics at the max 8mp resolution, you will still get over 250 shots on a 1GB memory card. If you take video clips, you only get about 6 minutes per 1GB with the highest quality video.

There is some risk of losing everything if you put it all on one memory card, and the card goes bad.

Even if you use multiple cards, I would consider getting Picture CD's made from your cards while on the trip. That way you have backup if the cards are lost or become defective. (The risk is actually pretty low, but still - if pics are lost they are lost forever.)

Have a great trip!

well if your camera can write to it and you can get it back after you take a picture and turn the camera off and try to get it back from memory if you can do that I would say yup do it.

but the problem I had was my camera could only use 48MB flash card so-they-said but I tried a 64NMB flash card and it worked for a while but the more I used it it seemed to write the pictures to it but it would not retrive them if I wanted to view them in the camera or on the computer in the reader so I ended up throwing it in the fireplace it was a second hand flash card. Never put bad pictures on any card like that cause it is next to impossible to erase the footprints of the picture even if you could delete it from the card. so I think go with what the camera limit is or saids

buy extra 2 gig memorys for the camera just like loading and unloading aa film camera but this is digital and the memory is not light sinitive if sun hits them.

relies upon on the favored and length of image you choose on the digicam. in case you're taking smaller sized photos with purely a typical high quality shot, you will get many extra photos than in case you place the favored placing to appropriate and take bigger pictures. i might evaluate getting an 8 GB card. that's what i exploit and it holds particularly a lot of %..
