i think it's the first and third of the options u gave: because they love God and because they truly want to send God's message to people. i think im going to be a preacher years from now, maybe. i do love God and i want as many people as possible to know that God loves them also, as much as God loves me.
by the way, God loves you too and He has a wonderful plan for Your life - if only you would just acknowledge Him =) He's waiting for you.

A person is not a preacher unless they are called by God. God will not anoint that person to that calling unless Love was involved. God does not give us a spirit of fear but boldness in preaching the Good news of Jesus Christ. A Preacher's heart is open to the lost souls and they must give a message of love to those who don't believe or in despair.

There are all sorts of different motives. Some do it for money, some do it for satisfaction, others do it out of conviction.
As a preacher, I felt that the message of the Bible was important and relevant to modern society, so after praying about it I decided I wanted to share it with other people.
Personally, I don't think anyone should force it down someone's throat, and it should never be taught for personal gain.

Alot of them, the ones on TV anyway, are in it for the money. So they put on this big show and run around on stage pushing people down like God just "healed" the individual, then the preacher turns around and asks for your money. Bunch of religious thieves preying on the gullible and biblically illiterate.

There are many reasons. Most do it really because they believe in it and fill it as their duty and call from God. But u will certainly find others for money, like to talk and preach others, be big in others eyes by talking all nice and good, help people in their decision making process..

Each Preacher is different I am sure just like why do people take other jobs.
Some do it I am sure to help people.
Others to spread the word of God.
Where others might use it as a position of power to abuse the power.

Well, the first answer was insulting to those whose beliefs differ from the one giving that answer.
OMG! What if he is wrong and there really IS a diety? Tsk, tsk.
Best way to answer this question? Ask a preacher.

True preachers are called by God Himself to preach the Gospel to the lost. Just look at St. Paul's introduction to almost all of his epistles,
"Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God—" (Romans 1:1)
"Paul, called to be an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God" (1 Corinthians 1:1)
"Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus our hope," (1 Timothy 1:1)
"Paul, an apostle—sent not from men nor by man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead" (Galatians 1:1)
The list goes on and on. We are not called to be preahers because we simply WANT to but we're called because we believe that it's God's Holy will that we be. Not mans.
