Does anyone here really believe in demonic possession. Just watched The Exorcist again the other night. I remember seeing it as a child and have always thought it was the scariest movie ever. Do you think such a thing could happen?

I do believe in disembodied spirits of both benevolent and malevolent kind, as well as those anywhere in between. Yes, these entities can and do have influence over us. In fact we may not even realize it when they are doing so. Sometimes I feel a pressure at the back of my head. This often is an intidicator that I am being spiritually attacked. In such cases I massage the area while praying to God and the attack disapates. It also should be noted that attack happens when we are vulnerable, such as having an unevolved philosophy/spirituality, intoxication of various kind, sleep, emotionalism, etc. I also believe people who do horrible horrible things may actually be vicitims of demonic attack. I remember reading about a mother who recently chopped off all the limbs of her baby. I don't believe almost anyone could do this without some demonic influence. In short, if one recognizes such things exist they can then take steps to protect themselves. When in any doubtful situation imagine yourself surrounded in a white light. If accompanied by any strange sensation massage the area in need. Finally and most important place your focus on God. This usually dispels the spirit very quickly. I often get attacked in the middle of the night and it takes everything within me to wake up just enough to ask God for help. Everytime this works and I fall right back to sleep. No matter what you may think of this subject it can't hurt to take precaution as the effects of not doing so can lead to much suffering on yourself as well as others.

I've never see "The Exorcist," so I can't comment on the movie. But do I believe in demonic possession? I'd like to say no, but I do believe that evil exists and that it can be a tangible force in this world. If that force takes over a person, I don't know what to call it other than demonic possession. I do think that historically, most cases of "possession" were probably physical or mental illnesses. Or drugs.

lol There's tons of medical conditions for these symptoms, Is not necessarily a demonic possesion.. Many people confuse a medical condtition,mental problem etc with a demonic possesion I do believe the possibility of a possesion, but not all of them are real

Yes, demonic possessions are real and can happen. Jesus Himself drove out several demons from possessed individuals. Today it's harder to distinguish whether someone is possessed or not because not too many people walk fully in the Spirit to recognize it, but it's there. Especially in third world countries where there is a lot of witchcraft.

such things DO happen. go to any church and you can find out a lot. try reading books on demonic possession written by christian authors. they are really really real. i have witnessed this kinds of things before.
there is a whole realm of spiritual activity thats going on in this world that would be good for all of us to know. very interesting

To not believe there are demons is to not believe in God, for there has to be another side of Good.. God is Good, the devil is evil. I believe there are demons, and i believe demons can take over someone. In a movie i saw, "Hellraiser III - Hell on Earth", the evil demon known as Pinhead was following a girl into a church, and there was a priest there. The girl screamed out that there is a demon following her, and the priest told her that there are no actual demons in life. He told her, in so many words, that demons represent someone to blame for the things that go wrong in a person's life. She said, "Really? then what is THAT?" She pointed at Pinhead, who quickly killed the priest.
There HAS to be demonic possession. The Bible tells us numerous times that the devil is like a stalking lion, ready to devour. He can't be in two places at once, like God can, so he has to have demons help him out moreso than God who has his Angels help him out. That's why in the Book of Job, when God asks the devil where he has been, the devil tells him that he's been "to and fro." Then, both God enlists the devil to test Job's faith and obedience to God.
Anyway, i believe that demons can get their hands on the soul in a new york minute.

Yes. However, how it happens I can not say. There is a war going on that few people know about, or at least few believe. It's the war between Heaven and Hell and as it's taking place, Satan takes advantage of every possible way to defile humans. Possession is just one way.
Most physical problems happen because of a spiritual attack.

Yes. Why certain people are possessed and others not is a mystery to me. But I figure it's because the person has open themselves up to it some how or some way. I'm not Catholic but they know a lot about it; probably more then most.

No, I don't believe in demonic possession but I do believe there are people with mental problems. I also believe the power of suggestion can be very potent.

YES, it does happen. Have come across a few people who were possessed. And have also known of people out of whom demons have been driven out.
