I've brushed him many many times. But still, he sheds big time.

don't bother brushing. There is a glove you can get that removes the hair from pets, usually focused at dogs, which has rubber or plastic on the palm or fingers. This will remove much more fur than simple brushing will do. And my cat, when I last had one, used to enjoy it.

Brushing will not work unless you are brushing against the lay of the fur, which cats hate.

So, what can you do to minimize the fur tumbleweeds floating around your home? Brushing and combing your cat on a regular basis is the most important control method. It will also decrease hairball frequency, help you keep an eye on your cat’s skin and coat for potential problems such as skin infections and bald areas, and is a fun and relaxing activity for both you and your cat. It is never too early to start brushing, but is important to start sessions slowly, and give your cat treats to reinforce calm behavior during grooming.

Well, starting off simply, try changing his food. I would reccomend Science Diet Hair Ball Control. This food works by reducing shedding. It has really helped with my cats. Also, just keep your cat brushed. Cats will shed hair, all you can do is to reduce the shedding.

Please, don't shave your cat. Unless she/he is badly matted, shaving a cat is traumatic and ridiculous.

You can also speak with your vet if trying a high caliber Hairball food (most work by reducing shedding) about trying other supplements.

I would make sure the food your feeding is nutritional. I add brewers yeast to my animals food. They don't like it at first. But know they lick the bowls clean. They all have shinny coats and healthy eyes and teeth. They look healthy and happy. And vet approved. Along with brushing or the glove thing mentioned above
