A friend of mine was complaining that the College of Business at the local university teaches "evil." That we have a "School of Evil." I said "So?" He said "Good point." There's certainly no effectual reason to not be "evil." In fact I think there are several perks in everyday life if you are willing to be a little evil. Doesn't it seem that there is a niche for "evil" to succeed in society? Business is a great example. There is an advantage to lying, cheating, and stealing, at least to some degree. I think that means evil is an evolutionary trait. But then of course, everything is... Very dumb, sorry. S'late. I don't believe in evil, it's just a category.

If I weren't worried about being a good Christian I would totally embrace "evil".

For a business to succeed, the LAST thing they want to do is to lie, cheat, and/or steal. It is bad business and the custoemrs will find out quickly.
As for there needing to be a little evil to succeed? I do not believe that at all.
I was marginally successful in my music career, and did nothing evil to get that way. I always played fair with the famns, and treated them and the music, and those around me with respect and "goodness".
I also have a friend who is HUGELY successful in business, and he is the most non-evil person you will ever meet.

Evil in this case is a way to benefit from society. As you allocate more of yourself to evil, other portions of your life suffer, such as morals, self-esteem and inter-personal relationships. You'd have a fancy car though.

You are correct. There are in fact times when it benefits you most to lie, cheat, or steal. It realy is about the likely consequences. Some types of lying, cheating, and theft carry almost no chance of serious consequence.

I think it's sad today, people are being taught to lie and cheat and steal in business. Their being taught that it's the only way to succeed and that's it's okay. It is stupid.
