especially when your mouth opens (wide)

when you yawn your eustachian tubes, which connect your ears to your pharynx (nasal cavity) open. this allows sounds entering through your mouth to enter your inner ear.

the effect is espeically noticeable while wearing earplugs, because the normal route for sound (through the outer ear) is blocked.

It is air escaping through your vocal chords or your trachea (as your throat stretches in the yawn), depending on the structure of your mouth. This doesn't happen to everyone...but it sure happens to me!

Tootsie, I dont' think that this is a normal result of yawning. Seek medical help immediately!
