ok, i see this question ALL the time and have answered it plenty, so i am just going to say exactly what i said to someone else:
Eating McDonalds everyday or eating unhealthy high fat foods that are bad for your heart health are NOT a healthy way to gain weight. Trust me, if you eat unhealthily with no working out, thinking you'll gain weight this way, when you reach a certain age you WILL gain weight, but in the wrong way (ie. pot belly, flabby man boobs, etc.) because your metabolism does eventually slow down. The best thing for you to do is minimize your cardio workouts and focus on weight training. To maximize the benefits of weight training i would suggest using a protein supplement or powder to speed up muscle growth (NOT steroids by the way). You can find these powders at most health food stores or specialty grocery stores. Mix it into fruit smoothies, cereal, yogurt, juice, milk, etc. atleast every day. There are some forms that contain a lot of calories to help you gain weight (make sure you don't get the protein powders that promote weight LOSS). Mammoth 2500 seemed to work for my brother (who is a bit older than you - 21) and he probably gained 20-25 pounds in one year in the form of muscle.

Smoking is known to decrease one's appetite. If you are eating well and still not gaining weight, you should think about getting your thyroid tested to make sure you aren't hyperthyroid. If all checks out well, you can supplement your diet with weight gain products. Add carnation instant breakfast to your milk; Learn to add calories to your meals, such as butter and whole milk. For example, if you make a bowl of warm cereal for breakfast, make it with whole milk, add an egg, already blended to the cereal while it's cooking, put in a little dry milk as well, butter, perhaps some wheat germ or protein supplement. Eat healthy snack bars in between meals, and eat 3 good healthy meals a day that include a healthy balance of protein, fat, and carbs.

Some people - like you and me - have fast metabolisms and, in order to gain weight, we really have to make an effort. Some techniques I use - 10% cream on cereal, in soup, and coffee & tea instead of milk. Real butter on everything. Lots of carbs like pasta, bread, rice. Higher fat meats like skin on dark meat chicken, well marbled beef, eat the fat on your porkchops etc. I wouldn't stop exercising, if you do it in moderation. You can ask your doctor about it too - that way you'll get some more detailed answers and suggestions than you will here. ANd you don't sound like you're starving to death - just nice and lean.

ok bud, its easy. Eat lots of meat such as pork, steak, and plenty of hamburgers, directly after you eat, lay down. watch t.v or go to sleep. By slowing down your metabalism, you gain weight. this is a good thing, after a week of eating high carb foods, weigh yourself. then exercise will turn that fat into muscle.
