A Poutine is a french-canadian dish. It is french fries with shredded mozzarella cheese on top smothered in gravy or poutine sauce. It is sold in just about every restaurant here and it is one of my favorite things to eat and it is even better if you put Ketchup on top too.

I am from Canada, Ontario to be exact and everyone puts gravy on thier fries (not always) and usually ketchup too or just ketchup, also just salt and vinegar or sometimes dip it in mayo. At thanksgiving my mom makes stuffing for the turkey and it has sliced olives and celery and onions and it is awesome. I eat perogies fried with onions and bacon pieces and then I put sour cream on it as a topping.

I think i would like gravy on my fries.... never had poutine is that like Vegimite? Never had a perogie but i've seen them. And no olives in my turkey stuffing. In turn I put mustard, cheese, chilli, or bacon on my fries. I eat Vegimite on my toast (it's an Australian thing!). I eat ravioli (which is kinda like a perogie) with tomato sauce. And my turkey stuffing has..... bread and broth that's about it. I didn't know there were so many differences between Canadian and American cuisine... I'm going to have to explore this more!!!! Gravy on fries.... I LIKE IT!

Ha, wow, I didn't realize things were so different. I have only put gravy on my fries in desperate situations when there was no ketchup to be found. I have never heard of poutine, it sounds crude and dirty to my ears. The idea of sourcream on perogies sounds strange and foreign to me, though I'll bet a lot of people indulge in this practice. I have never had an olive in my turkey stuffing. Ketchup on everything, dear, ketchup on everything. ;)

No I have never had that. It sounds kind of nasty to me. I'm from the North NYC. But I have been living in the South SC for a couple of years. And I have never heard of that before. Now I have eaten Chili cheese fries. With Ketchup. Those are very good. But no olives in turkey stuffing and this is the first time i have ever heard of "poutine" I'm going to have to wikipedia that one.

I am a U.S. citizen and I love French fries. I eat them with catsup, mayonnaise, I love it with cheese on top and also chili. The gravy part sounds gross. But if it was offered to me, I might try it. Yes, I absolutely love perogies with and without sour cream on them. No olives in my turkey stuffing.

I'm a waitress in Michigan and A LOT of people order gravy for their fries!! Chicken or beef gravy. I once had a guy order hash browns with american cheese, onions and beef gravy all over them. I myself am a vegetarian so I don't eat gravy unless it's mushroom gravy.
I like my pierogies pan fried with veggies and A1 or soy sauce, even BBQ sauce....pierogies are good with anything!
I seen Shania Twain on Martha Stewart make Poutine.....it was french fries covered with mozzarella cheese and thenn topped with mushroom gravy.....right?

Americans sometimes eat Canadians. Okay, not really, but we do eat those pesky Quebecois.
All kidding aside... in America people put ketchup, fry sauce (mayonaise and ketchup), chili, cheddar cheese, garlic and sometimes even honey mustard, but rarely gravy. Garlic fries are the best.
Perogies are found in cities with larger Jewish populations (New York mostly) and I've been served sour cream with them.
Not familiar with poutine.
Olives in stuffing? Okay, sure.

I just want to say that I am Canadian and I have on occasion had Poutine, and quite often I have gravy with my fries. However, poutine made with shredded mozzarella is a basterdized version, to be authentic it must be made with cheese curd.

I eat mayonnaise or a doner-type yogurt sauce on my fries. And always have them with seasoned salt and paprika. I love periogies! With sour cream or butter and onions. Hmm, gravy on fries sounds good.
