My doctor has suggested more aerobic exercise, but heart and knee problems have prevented me from doing so. Are there any forms of aerobic exercise that are low impact and wont raise my heart beat too high? My resting pulse is 70-80 bpm, 80-120 when I'm moving around, but i get light headed when I go running or on a bike ride.

It sounds like you also have high blood pressure. Instead of jumping right into running, try walking every day for a while for at least 45 minutes 6 times per week. Then when you feel ready, try walking for 5 minutes and jogging for 1 minute and repeat that until you reach the normal 45 minutes. Make sure to drink lots of water. When it is hot out, do not wear anything more than a tank top and shorts. The other reason you may be getting light headed is from dehydration. Try this out and you may see your resting rate drop dramatcially in 2 months.

There's a great workout called "walk away the pounds" Very low impact - you just walk in place to the DVD - different little steps, but very low impact and it's a great workout with results.

Good luck to you!
