If you find a tick on your CAT there are several methods for removal. One method requires you to swab the tick with rubbing alcohol. Then, using a pair of tweezers, grip the tick as close to the entry point as possible. It's important that you remove the head of the tick that is buried under your CAT's skin. Pull the tick straight out. If you have the head, dab the entry wound with an antiseptic. If you do not have the head it is possible that the would will swell and fester. Apply a local antibiotic cream [Neosporin or Bacitracin]. Watch the area and call your vet if it looks infected. Depending upon the kind of tick your CAT may need medical attention.

The cat is likely to get a local abscess - like a big zit - bit it's not the end of the world. Keep the area clean and check with your vet if it gets too big. The head will eventually come out on its own. If you have tweezers with really fine points and a steady hand you can try pulling the head out - though you're more likely to just annoy the cat.
In the meantime, it sounds like your cat needs Frontline so it doesn't get more ticks.

I would get your cat treated ASAP. Try a topical flea control that covers ticks for your cat in the future. Your cat probably has other ticks that need to be removed. Then general rule is that after 24 hours, ticks can begin to transmit disease (lyme, rocky mountain spotted fever, etc.) There is not a huge risk for these diseases, but they are deadly, and you should do everything you can to rid your cat of all ticks, icluding heads, as soon as you can. I would take your cat to a vet if you have trouble doing this.

Ticks are the tiniest and most disease causing pest. Use a dab of Vaseline and the head should fall out or you should be able to grab it with a tweezers. Take your cat to the vet to be sure it does not have other fleas or ticks. Get a good cat flea collar( a dog flea collar could make your cat very sick) Give cat a few extra brushes just to let her know you care.

The head can cause infection problems. You need to go see a vet and have it checked out. Ticks should never just be pulled out. There are way to get the things to release.

Yes! Even though the body isn't attached, the head will continue to suck the blood out, which is bad. My best suggestion is to rub either baby oil or petroleum jelly over the head of the tick, wait a little while for it to "drown" in it, and then, if it doesn't fall out itself, use either tweezers or needlenose pliers to pull it off.
Best of luck with your cat!

Yes, you should be. It can cause a lot of problems because it can cause infections. Take it to the vet and have the head removed.

OOOOO I really don't like when that happens. Have you tried the match thing? You also might want to see if your local vet can take care of it. It's really not too serious of a problem, so I wouldn't worry.
