If it works for both of you, schedule times to call. That way you won't worry about playing phone tag (when you're apart from them, getting voicemail makes you feel really lonely!) and you'll still have a "together" time. Watch favorite shows together on the phone. But don't spend every second on the phone, enjoy hobbies or do things with your friends so you have something interesting to talk about rather than how much you miss each other & what you ate for lunch. If it is real, six months won't matter much at all.

I have had both unsuccessful and successful long distance relationships. It all depends on a lot of things I suppose. First you need to have a strong relationship before the separation, if you can't have a good relationship together there is no way you can keep a good relationship while apart. Visiting each other often does help a lot, it is an important part of a long distance relationship. The only other thing I can say is that you have to trust each other, that is sooo important. Accusing her of cheating will destroy the relationship, she needs to know you trust her and neither of you should have to feel guilty every time you go out because someone will accuse you of cheating. Also, talk to her ever day. Make time for each other, even if it is only ten minutes. good luck =)

Well I in the same boat as you. I am spending 6 months away from my girlfriend, who I truly love. Yeah communication is the key, but you also have to be true and honest with each other no matter what the situation may be. It's very hard to do, your mind will bother you at times, and don't hold it in when you talk to your boyfriend. Just be real with each other and time will fly for you

Try to talk, email, and IM as much as possible. Send pictures and cards. If it's real 6 months won't make a difference.

a tiral separation is very good for a relationship, as long as the lines of communication are open. keep in touch but dont talk every minute of everyday, cuz then it just gets boring. just keep that in mind.

Short of finding a friend wth benefits, I would say communication is the key.
