I love tattoos and have some really nice ones. Yesterday my boyfriend said when we get married he would like to get tattooed wedding rings. (Lets say for once a marriage actually works and there is no worry of divorce) What do you think of this idea?

I would also like a rock on my finger (lets face it women love diamonds no matter who they are) but I think there is something really romantic about having something underneath that would never go away.
Also, i don't believe in divorce so if I somehow did end up divorced it would serve me right and I would deserve to look @ it everyday..

Actually, I don't like diamonds at all... they're impractical (think snagging and cleaning), environmentally and socially irresponsible (mining practices are grotesque), and just too flashy and stereotypical for my taste. My ring is a simple silver band.

I noticed that one of the dads at my kid's school has a tattooed wedding ring... I've never noticed if his wife does or not. But it's perfect, because he's a contractor, and a ring would probably get all scratched up and ruined. So I thought that was a lovely idea. That was the first time I'd seen one and I think they're really cool.

I don't think I would go that route myself, but I like it. The permenance of a tattoo (lasers and "coverups" excluded) is a powerful symbol and reminder to perservere, work things out, and be serious when life gets hard. And let's face it, it will.

The only negative I can see (other than the divorce issue, but I'm going to assume that you only want to get married once) is that by doing that, you lose the lovely gesture and powerful symbolic action of giving and receiving rings. The exchange is an external realization of the exchange of vows. It's something tangible and a lovely moment for people to witness.

But this is all a personal decision. If it works for you two, I say go for it!

you can do both. when you guys are at the church or where ever you choose to get married, what is he gonna slip on your finger? you can get a diamond ring, doesn't have to be big, and then for like your one year anniversary get the tattoos. that would be so cute and romantic!! its a great idea though. and congratulations!!!

I know this sounds anti-romance, but let's think logically here. You don't believe in divorce. What if he turns out to be an alcoholic? What if he physically or verbally hurts you? What if he cheats on you? There's a lot of things that could happen. So tatoo if you must, but don't let yourself be fooled, girl. Stay true to yourself.

I think its a cool idea if your both interested in it. But personally I like having a rock on my finger. Guys who work in jobs such as a mechanic it would be a good idea since safety is an issue.

I am also a little inked and LOVE the idea. My husband and I are planning on doing this as soon as we find a design that we like. We also have "real" rings. But I think it's such a neat idea.

I am not a tattoo fan so it would not work for me, but if you like the idea...go for it. I like diamonds so much better than tattoos!!!

I think tattooed wedding rings are great! My daughter and her husband just got them for their 8th anniversary.

At least neither one of you will be able to lose your rings! LOL Maybe you should save this for a first anniversary celebration . . . just a thought.

Good luck!
