Make it somewhere special and unique, just in case she turns into The One--then you two will always have that place to call your own. My first date with my boyfriend was in a tiny (4 tables) Mediterranean restaurant--we were the only people there and my boyfriend, who got there first, asked the owner to change the music to my favorite jazz station. We'll always remember that place fondly (it's a taco place now).

Gingerg50 reads too damn many romance novels, I'd get scared if a guy did that to me! She wants to know you're interested in her but doesn't want a spineless, lovesick puppy!

I would ask her what kind of food she likes, then pick a local, non-chain place to take her. Olive Garden is a great restaurant but not very imaginative or original! Don't ask her for a specific restaurant either, for one thing, we don't always like to pick a certain one because we want to make sure you like it too, and for another, it may be someplace she went with someone else. Not good!

I agree with staying away from beans for obvious reasons, but garlic onions whatever is OK as long as you BOTH eat it, then if you kiss her goodnight, neither one of you will taste yuck on the other. And don't get drunk.

I think slightly casual is best for a first date, just because both of you will be more relaxed if you're in more everyday clothes & surroundings as opposed to dressed up.

I need more information. Approximently how old are you? Do you have a job that can support the space needle, or are you blessed to be able to stop at a hot dog stand. Is she a Foo Foo girl, or down to earth blue jeans girl? If she is down to earth, Plan a picnic lunch with a really nice basket, a teddy bear, some balloons, and when you are done with the meal. surprise her with a simple bouquet of flowers. Near water is always nice. If there is a park near by with a swing set, offer to push her to the sky. If you can make her laugh and smile on your first date, odds are you will get a second.

If it's a romantic date try to find a place that has dim lighting and is a bit on the quiet side. If it's a fun date why not try one of those places like TGI Fridays? If you really want to wow her make sure you freshly shaved and nicely dressed. Flowers are a nice touch. And please...don't go somewhere that has messy or hard to eat foods. A girl usually hates eating in front of her boyfriend. (don't worry...we grow out of that in time!) She will be worried about spilling something on herself, getting food stuck in her teeth or having a mess on her face. When my hubby and I were dating he took me to a seafood resturant for our first special dinner. I was horrified because I had no idea how to eat that kind of food! Hahahaha! Now it's one of my favorites! Best of luck to you and don't foget to be a gentlemen. I know it sounds silly but girls really go crazy for that sort of thing!

Don't take her to Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Sizzler, McDonald's, Burger King, Bob Evans, Hometown Buffet, or any other chain restaurant.

Make it special - I don't know where you are but a nice, romantic Italian restaurant would be nice ;)

Ask her what kind of food she likes. Choose a restaurant you can afford. Don't forget to make a reservation a few days ahead. Be polite and hold her chair while she gets seated. And watch your manners. Don't talk with your mouth full.
