Yes, memory loss. I shocked myself once by sticking a knife into the toaster, while it was still plugged in, to retreive the toast that didn't pop out. This was when I was in grade school and I still have problems remembering things. If I don't write it down, the second I think of it, it's gone!

For a toddler to be shocked, I don't know if there would be permanent side effects. Maybe ask a doctor?

I was shocked by a popcorn popper once when I was a kid (about 8 or 9). I unplugged it with butter on my hands, and I felt a zing go through that hand and up my arm. That arm was sore for awhile (a few hours) after.

It is not the voltage but the amps that do the damage.

If it was just the paperclip in the outlet, the likelyhood of damage is slim.

Electricity can do damage to you, basically internal burns. Depending on what got burned, there my be long term side effects. The best way to know if anything happened is working back with your doctor.

I shocked myslef many times as a kid being fascinated with electronics and such. Also I worked as an electrician for a while and I even got hit with a 240v line... but in the multiple dozens of times I have been shocked, I have yet to experience any long lasting effects from it...

And I have not heard of such a thing..

I was shocked several times as a child, as far as I know there is no permanent damage. I am afraid of getting shocked again, so Im more careful now though.

I got 240v from a carnival ride when I was 17. It was very ...... electrifying, to say the least. I know of no permanent side effects it caused (30 years later).

If you dismantle a cigarette lighter that uses a spark to ignite the gas, you can carry around a fun little toy with you. As the infomercials always say, "Shock all your friends!"

Yes, I got a 240v shock for lass than a second when I was younger. It gave me no problems, in fact it was kind of a thrill. I haven't tried it again though.
