memory is a mostly feature of the conscious mind. dreams are more the process of associating feelings to events. We dont remember much of our dreaming because a lot of it is housekeeping, so to speak. You might not remember a dream but you might be able to re-experience one. Your telling of a dream in a waking state will expand in detail as you talk about it. try this -- a dream is not like a story to be recalled so stay in bed a few minutes after the morning alarm goes off, ask yourself what feelings are you aware of and where you just were if you recall any images. defer trying to make any sense of it, record your impressions verbally (like on a cell phone recorder, or diary). Like most learning, this takes a lot of practice.

Sometimes we wake up too quickly from our sleep, and that can cause us to forget. Many times, we remember, when we first, get up, but, then within a few hours, we foprget. To accurately study or work with our dreams, it is suggested to keep a note pad & pen nearby our bed.

It is your sub conscience way of working through and dealing with stress and life. That is why when you do remember you sometimes remember strange events or details that are way out there. just relax and dream and don't try to remember and then you will....
