I personally think the Aztecs were the most criticized. They honestly believed in human and animal sacrifice. It was an HONOR to be sacrificed, but as soon as the Europeans came over, they were seen as "barbaric" and were brutally forced to abandon all the ever knew or believed. They truly believed that if they didn't make a sacrifice, the sun wouldn't rise the next morning and they didn't want to take any chances. I think it was kind of cruel the way the Europeans just assumed Christianity was "right" and just forced them to forget all they ever knew or believed. Islam gets a bad rap from people sometimes, but at least most people gave up on actually arresting, torturing, and forcing them to abandon their religion. Happened enough during the Crusades, but I like to think the world's gotten a little better since then. How about you?
But on the topic of Islam, I don't think it's a violent religion. It has a pretty big following, and the ONLY thing anyone can ever remember is 9-11. Granted, it WAS an absolutely horrible day, but that was done by AL QUIADA, who happen to be muslims. They did that for their own beliefs, not Islamic beliefs. But no one understands that anymore. The Pillars of Islam specifically state morals of charity, peace and prayer, but too many of us tend to focus on one thing, find a common ground, and blame it.
If I remember correctly, Hitler was a Christian, and he indirectly assassinated millions of people. Does that mean Christians are violent people? No. It just means one bad apple ruined it for the rest.

Actually Prince_Uranus, YOU are the moron for taking Islamic lessons (or any type of lessons) from killers. Since when do normal thinking people take lessons on religion from killers? The killers in any religion make up a small minority and do not represent the faith (or the people of the faith) that they claim to be a part of.
To answer the question, it does seem at the moment that Islam is the most criticized religion. It's at least receiving the most coverage from the media.

You have to look at history books, and read the Koran itself.
The Koran itself describes Mohammed as a warrior who fought on the field of battle. It's there in black and white. History records the slaughter of pagans, Zoroastrians (very very rare nowadays because of the spread of Islam), Hindus (see India-pakistan), African tribes (millions were slaughtered as the Muslims conquered Africa, and the "barbary coast", filled with Muslim pirates, was the reason why the United States formed it's Navy to begin with), Christians and Jews (see conquest of Jerusalem, Constantinople, Rome, all the way to Spain).
There was a time when the Arab empire spanned from Spain to Southeast Asia. The fact is, the Muslims were brutal when conquering the enemies of Islam. These are all provable, well documented, historical facts, corroborated by any independent source, as well as the Koran itself.

Islam follows a 'prophet' who was a pathologically violent man, not to mention a pedophile who was intimidated by women because of his profound illiterate ignorance. He therefore hated them, which is why the Koran preaches that women should be beaten and why any woman who does something wrong is stoned to death. The Koran conflicts radically with itself, which is understandible seeing as how it was dictated by an ignorant *** to a woman who was writing on bones. It was put together by followers long after his death (dogsh*t be on his head) in no chronological or topical order, so it makes no sense whatsoever. The Wahhabi branch of Islam teaches that ALL non-believers must be killed, they begin teaching this to their children as soon as they can read. Peaceful religion??? Ask yourself one question, what would happen to YOU in an Islamic nation? In 'moderate' Islamic nations, like Malaysia, you are not killed for leaving the faith, you just have to go to prison for 2 years! Oh yeah, THESE guys are going to embrace democracy!!
Source(s):
Read the Koran and a good Biography of Mohamed (dogshit be on his head)!

My God in Heaven!
you have to ASK someone to TELL you whether Islam is a religion of violence or peace?
you are a moron.
just start chanting to yourself-----9-11, 3000 innocent americans dead........9-11, 3000 innocent americans dead, 9-11, 3000 innocent americans dead.
chant this till some sense makes its way back into your head. chant it 24-7 for at least a day or two.
if, after chanting this you still feel the need to ask the question whether islam is a religion of violence or peace, just give it up. you're too dense to salvage.
1st Edit: whoa! looks like i stirred up the moron possee whose three, count them, three mighty mental powers include Happy: Beautiful, Loved and Moronic and bionimetikit. (you know, the way these idiot's names read I wanted to keep going on with Dopey, Sleepy, Doc, etc) i tremble in my shoes at your combined mental prowess----but just keep chanting 9-11 3000 INNOCENT Americans dead, 9-11 3000 INNOCENT Americans dead.
2nd edit: and it's PRINCE Uranus to you, bionimetikit!

prince uranus: Chant "Spanish Inquisition, Spanish Inquisition, Spanish Inquisition" all day long. Do the math... which killed more, 9-11 or Spanish Inquisition? The scale will be wayyyy uneven to the "credit" of Christianity.
The 9-11 terrorists were terrorists, not true Muslims.
Chant "KKK lynchings, KKK lynchings, KKK lynchings" for a full day. Now tell me, were/are the KKK members Christians? Or were/are they terrorists as well? The KKK has nothing to do with true Christianity. They hate MidEasterners, when Christianity originated there, and JC was a MidEasterner himself. Oh man, are they DENSE!
So you see, terrorists are terrorists, and should never be held as an example of to do with God.

see how other people outside Islam react upon hearing the word 'Islam' ? They do forgot about what happened in Afghanistan and Iraq. They do forgot to count the victims the American army caused. Its much greater than what you call 'thousands'. Can American people look at what they done ? And what is the religion most American people believe in ?

From my experience and what I myself have learned, I know that Islam is a religion of peace. I don't think that people are jealous of Islam, I just think that sometimes people are ignorant and fear what they don't know.
