I am not being descriminatory, but as a biblical scholar I would really desire to hear from Devout Jews on this question. My tone of this question is not mocking but serious. I really want to know how Devout Jews feel about this important question.

I'm a religious Jew.

The Derech Hashem of R' Moshe Chaim Luzzato (one of the preeminent philisophical works in Judaism) explains that G-d has six characteristics:

1) G-d exists.
2) G-d is absolutely perfect.
3) But for G-d, all existance would cease.
4) G-d is absolutely independant.
5) G-d is absolutely simple.
6) G-d is absolutely one.

I realize that most of those statements seem obtruse, but I don't have time to explain them all. If the topic truly interests you, get a hold of the book. The first section is devoted to the nature of G-d and he explains all of the above statements. (It was translated into English by R' Aryeh Kaplan, one of the greatest english speaking rabbis of the past 40 years.) Here's a link to the english version.

Why are we censoring the word God?

We live in an age where there are uncencored streaming videos of people having sex with animals, transsexuals, and doing extremely obscene things. What is so offensive about the word God?

"because, so many people have died in the name of God"

So? So many people have died in the name of drugs, sex, and criminality too, but those things are mainstream forms of entertainment. Let's not put God in a category that is beneath prostitution and bestiality.
