The Bible tells us that Jesus was very fond of man on the Earth. He agreed to come down to Earth as a human and suffer for our sins. He was a perfect man. It's special because when he died for us (everyone who has ever lived and has yet to be born) on this Earth, he didn't have to do it. A perfect man had to die to replace the once perfect man Adam. No one else could do this. Yes others have died BUT they couldn't be the ransome sacrafice. Since they are/were sinners like us they weren't/aren't perfect. The scriptures explain all that. But when Jesus died, he died for all man then, now, and the future.

1. Because after the horrible whipping that He took, He was nailed to the cross, hung there for over 6 hours died, was stabbed with a spear, was buried in a tomb, spent 3 days in hell so man kind would never have to suffer in the depths of the pit of flames, and then He resurrected and walked the earth for 40 days and nights before He ascended to Heaven where He resides at the right hand of God.
2. Nailed to the cross with Jesus was every sin and crime that man can think of, past present and future. Jesus did this so we would not have to suffer the punishment of eternal death.

Jesus came to take away the sins of the world. Not just the ancient world but all of the world at all times including now. God knew that we would all sin : in the past the people had to make sacrifices for their sins in order to be forgiven. Jesus came to be that one last great sacrifice for the sins that were and would be committed. That is why the Bible says that Jesus sits on the right hand of God making intercession for us. He is sort of our lawyer when we break the laws of God. Without him and the sacrifice that he gave which was his life, we would not be able to be forgiven for the sins that we commit now or in the future.

It is special because he chose to suffer in reparation for our sins. He is the spotless lamb, the perfect sacrafice. He made atonement for the sins of those who went before him and for everbody later who would partake of his sacrafice. How do you partake of his sacrafice? It is re-presented daily at your local Catholic church.
"It is finished" actually meant that the sacrafice which until then was known as the Passover had been completed. He said this only after drinking the wine and gaul from a sponge at the end of the soldiers spear. The wine constituted the fourth and final cup of wine which is drank at the Passover meal, the Cup of Consumation. This is the same cup that Catholics drink from at Mass.

frist of all you have no understanding of who He was because you are asking thins. no one is/was/will be completly without sin in your whole life. no one is innocent. Jesus was the ONLY one who lived a perfect life. it is special because he was perfect in every way, even the "judge" at that time could not find him gulty, but the leaders of the tarbancle paid the croud to shout out to kill him. he sufferd more than any man ever could, it was a wonder that he even made it to the cross.
and yes he did die for our sins, as well as for the sins of the people back then. he was the one sacrifice the only perfect sacrifice. there will never be another like Him. he prayed that those who heard of Him would repent and be saved, that includes us.

The suffering that Christ sustained was two-fold.
One was the physical and two was the rejection of God the Father, when the sins of the world, past, present, and today!
Jesus died as God's scarifice for us.
God was is and will always be. And he intended for us to
ask in prayer to Christ for forgiveness of our sins. I see that you look at the Bible as a history book. But God isn't the past, he
is present.
I pray that you seek him out, and learn the real truth. Not what you want to believe. God can help you through Christ Jesus, if you allow him to.

In Genesis, there is a verse that states that God was sad that he had even created us,he was going to destroy all,and decided through Noah that he would start over if Noah could find a few faithful .Noah could only get his family to believe that God was going to flood the earth...Well you know the rest of the story. In keeping with God's promise to Noah that he would never destroy the human race with water again,God still didn't know how to teach us how much he loved us.So he came to live among us as Jesus Christ.Jesus Christ, the son of God was God in the Flesh. That whosoever believe in him should not perrish but be granted eternal life. The suffering was an expression of his love for us.

1) Hello, in God's eyes no one is innocent except Jesus who is without sin.
2) God cannot let you go just like that because every sins committed must be punish. He is a righteous God. In order for you to go free, someone must take you place to be punish. Jesus is the only one that can take your place because He has no sin on His own.

we make a big deal out of Chirst's suffering because he suffered for us, by taking our sins.. past, present and future upon himself and put them to death.
does it apply for today? YES.. before he died, he said "It is finished" which translates.. from begining to ending.
