You know what I say to that? Ok, thats nice, but realize that none of that rules out the possibility that God exists and that some religion is true. There is nothing to say that God is not behind evolution and the formation of complex individuals with parts of their souls called psyches. Just because you can pull apart natural phenomenon like thunder and lightning and reduce them to the mere interaction of energy and particles according to constant natural laws, you've done nothing to deny the fact of a Divine source that created those particles and set those laws in place. Realize that in the university system, the number of atheists is either only marginally higher if not the same as the population at large. The number of Atheists in some fields of study such as cosmology and neurobiology are even lower than in other disciplines and the population at large. The Eskeleto Approach is an increasingly unviable one in the academic world.
Now, I will say this, it is possible to try and argue using logic, science and what we know from history that certain specific religions are not true. If that's what you do, then fine. That is possible. What is not possible is denying all spiritual belief on the basis that it is inherently at odds with those methods of acquiring knowledge. If you want to try and make an actual argument that gives reasons for why a certain belief is incongruent with some scientific knowledge that we already have, fine. But to say that simply because we have scientific knowledge at all, religiously based knowledge is automatically ruled out...well, that I will not accept.
So, a couple of morals to the story: 1. If you're going to try and say you don't believe in some religion based on science or logic or something, you need to be prepared to give an actual argument and not just drop rhetorical statements like "You can't really believe in God now that we have the cell phone can you?" No., you're gonna have to make an actual argument

This is the best question anyone can ask. It is very easy to ask a question about an event no human attended. Science is full of theories where there is no exact or correct answer...things are simply proven by experiments etc..and a theory is created. Religion is understood by theology, and because there are so many different types of religions, faiths and theological understandings there are also many answers based on this question.
Seriously, many similar questions can be asked.
example: where did oxygen come from, or simply where did every element come from?....from the beginning?
If we humans keep asking about how the biginning became, all we will find are billions of different kinds of answers.
If we cannot know an exact answers for "what happened before the big ban?" or "How did the "beginning" become?" then (as I beleive) IT SIMPLY DOES NOT MATTER. Whether you beleive in a certain faith or not..that is who you are and no one can change that. Beleive me, thinking of a past no one knows for shure about will not help our future (which I beleive matters more).
Have a nice day, and a bright future!

Questions like what is beyond the universe or what happened before the beginning are so far outside of our knowledge that no one can begin to formulate an intelligent hypothesis.
When contemplating the very beginning, you're faced with two equally mind-boggling possibilities: either it was always here, or there was a time when there was nothing - not even time. This being the religion forum, "God did it" will appeal to some; but that's a non-explanation from a scientific point of view, like earlier cultures claiming gods made thunder.

I'm a Muslim, I agree with all the facts that science gives abt the creation of this Universe, the BIG BANG and all that stuff.
Now tell me, for the creation of a cetain thing there is always a certain procedure we have to carry out, so same goes here in the creation of this universe.
BIG BANG was the procedure adopted by GOD for the creation of what we are now.
And I can bet, if u says who created GOD, then ask ur mind, eventually a brainwave will say "who knows"
and u'll say GOD knows
"O men! Here is a parable set forth! Listen to it! Those on whom, besides Allah (Arabic name for GOD), you call, cannot create even a fly, if they all met together for the purpose, and if the fly should snatch away anything from them, they yould have no power to release it from the fly. Feeble are those who petition!"

Where did the lump appear from? Why?What made it decide (after eons of time) to light its own fuse and blow up? How did an explosion create a highly precise universe. Can a big bang at a dump create a Lamborghini or some new life form? These are some questions I wonder about. You have a good Question.

I think that there was another universe (just like ours is today, even with another earth like planet) that imploded into a large ball and then exploded again. No one really knows but seems logical (for me). They cycle will continue infinity as the universe will always be there. Time and space have always been there but these are dependent on the speed of the matter exploding. So a parallel universe could have a different time continuum and where our science would not necessarily work. example. speed of light could be different / calculated differently.
that's my take on it

Big Bang is only a theory. Althought yeah I got sorta the same question, but that is a question everyone has, what started the universe, if it did start, etc. This is very complex I know and best not to think about it really, unless ofcousre you're an astromoner or scientist or whatever.

LOL!...hee hee hee!.....this was the best laugh I've had all day!....seriously, it was really funny because it doesn't make sense......sounds like it should be in a comic book, or sit com or something!.....To answer your question: I've asked atheists that same question many times and never got an answer that made common sense even!......Oh well, guess I'll just keep wondering "What Happened Before The Big Bang Theory"......

In the beginning God created the Heavens and the earth.... it makes sense doesn't it that in order for there to be a design there has to be a designer. Think of the complexity of the human body for instance, or the universe.

That's because all you know and all I know is finite creation because we are finite beings. We had a beginning and we have an end. In Gods' realm of eternity there is only 'is'. Time came at the point of creation and continues. That's why when Moses asked " who should I say sent me?", God responded by saying " tell them I AM sent you". God resides in a state of eternalness where time does not exist. You are not alone in the question, it boggles my mind too. Eternity can't be interpreted by the finite. Equally, I can't understand or fathom incorruption or a sinless state of being. Never being hungry or thirsty, no pain or tears but most of all, being put in a place of honor by my Creator for simply believing and trusting in the word of His Son, that's the grace of God.
