Most of the time people bring thier animals AND children to the parks. It really isnt possible to seperate the two since they owner would have to keep an eye on both the kids and the pet. Your best bet is to make sure that the children wash thier hands after playing. The only intestinal parasite that a dog tranfers to humans without eating something is hook worms.

I think they should as long as people are responsible and clean up after their pets. As far as the beach goes how many children (and adults) are pissing in the water (and on the beach behind that tree)? If you had seen it you would be disgusted. Besides if not the dogs then the seagulls are doing it all over as well as any other wildlife that comes along during the night. Given the choice I would knowingly roll around in dog piss than possibly in human any day because in reality dogs are pretty clean since their digestive system breaks most everything down and like one individual has already pointed out the only thing really contagious from them is hook worms. That being said most dogs have been de-wormed anyway so we are pretty safe. If it were up to me people would be allowed to bring their dogs, and made to leave the children at home!! (Just kidding but honestly don't you agree?)

What exactly is it about the dog urine and/or feces remains after the owner picks it up that bothers you? Is it germs? Do you think grass is "clean" if dogs are not allowed on it? I am constantly disgusted by humans spitting big nasty loogies in public. Cigarette butts have been in someone's mouth. Repeatedly. Ditto for straws, cups, cans, etc. Have you been to a park in the city recently? Seen the hypodermics? Can you say "biohazard"? Do you think stray dogs and cats read the signs and stay off the grass? What about racoons and coyotes (and where I live, deer, elk, bears and foxes)?
I think you should teach the kids not to lick the grass and just relax a little.

Urine breaks down in about two hours and if they pick up poop why shouldn't they use the parks thier taxes pay for too. And I can tell you there are humans taking a leak behind the bushes and human urine can carry a whole lot more things.

well heck, your kids could be rolling around in human urine too.... in fact i saw a kid peeing on the beach the last time i went.... dogs are like children they need to play, they love the beach and they need good supervision.

i think they should, as long as the owner pick up after them. but in regards to your question, remember, that ultimately, the children's parents are responsible for where the kids get their hands on. and washing them afterwards. dogs do neet to poop somewhere.

Sounds like you have a problem with your city...write to your city council. Telling it to us won't change anything.
