Jehovah's Witnesses will say that they are Christians, but they will also confess that they are not "mainstream" Christians. This is because their beliefs concerning God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are very different from the beliefs held by "mainstream" Christians.
Probably the widest gap between JWs and Christians lie in each group's beliefs about the Trinity.
Christians believe that God exists as three persons -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit -- and that each of these three persons is God in His own right: The Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God, and yet they are one God, not three, because they each share fully in the same uncreated divine essence.
JWs believe that Father and Son are two separate beings and that the Holy Spirit is not a person at all -- the Holy Spirit is the active, impersonal power of the Father which extends across all creation. Moreover, JWs believe the Father created the Son, which means the Son is just an angel, not God in His own right.
For these reasons (among others), JWs are not considered Christians by the majority of Christian denominations worldwide.

Of course we are Christians! The zeal of Jehovah’s Christian Witnesses today parallels that of the Christians of the first century. The first Christians, as soon as they were baptized, felt it their duty to spread the Gospel. From mouth to mouth, slaves transmitted the Gospel. Jehovah’s Witnesses, like those early Christians, are so zealous because:
1)The good news they publish is from Jehovah God himself. Could there be a better reason for zeal?
2)Their message is one of salvation. Through Jesus Christ, Jehovah will save meek ones from sin, sickness, and death. Those who benefit will live forever! (John 3:16, 36; Revelation 21:3, 4). And
3)They follow the example of Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 2:21) That perfect man wholeheartedly accepted the assignment “to tell good news to the meek ones.” (Isaiah 61:1; Luke 4:17-21) So he became an evangelizer, a teller of good news. He traveled the length and breadth of Galilee and Judea, “preaching the good news of the kingdom.” (Matthew 4:23) And because he knew that many would respond to that good news, he said to his disciples: “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. Therefore, beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.”—Matthew 9:37, 38. Throughout modern times, Jehovah’s Witnesses have preached the good news of the Kingdom in a greater fulfillment of Matthew 24:14.
Based on what it means to be a Christian, it would seem that only Jehovah’s Witnesses meet the criteria.

What is a Christian? One who abides by the Bible in ALL of their daily practices and worship. One who is free from ALL pagan practices and teachings. One who is declaring the good news about God's Kingdom. One who has love among themselves. We are the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Please only listen to a REAL Witness. Some people never listen to what we have to say, have never studied with us, and are only going by hearsay, they know nothing about us. Only listen to those who are Witnesses. Yes we are Christian because we do the things I mentioned above. When you look at some other religions and their teachings and they way they act and worship you can readily tell who isn't following Bible principles. Every single thing we teach and believe comes straight from the Bible and that's how a true Christian organization should be. If you want more info. go to our OFFICIAL website, watchtower.org. Hope I answered your question :)

They like to think they are but simply put they do not believe in the trinity or the deity of Christ and as stated they think Jesus is an archangel Michael so they can't be.
Besides according to their numerous prophecies the end of the world should have happened many times by now so we shouldn't really be answering this question if the end has happened.
To follow Christ you need the whole of the Bible not just the bits you don't agree with and all throughout the Old Testament there are references to God in three persons and the Messiah, and as Christ is God, then this is the belief needed to be a Christian.

Most certainly we are. Unlike many who claim to be Christian, for example: Why do you think, the prisons are full of so-called Christians, why is it that so-called Christians are the ones that "burn, spit, step on the "flag" and show disrespect not only to the flag but to the country they live in?
Is it because of people that could care less about
God's rules that are layed out in the Bible,
Has your minister, priest or religious leader mentioned this wonderful hope to you? Of course they have not, most clergymen say nothing about it. In fact, many do not even believe the Bible. This is an important reason why Jehovah’s witnesses call at the homes of people of other religions.
The efforts of Jehovah’s witnesses to approach people in public and at their homes are rooted in the Word of God. Jesus himself went directly to the people, and he instructed his apostles and disciples to do likewise.
The Witnesses’ beliefs, based entirely on God’s Word, the Bible, prevent them from falling into the trap of becoming a sect or a cult. They take a kindly interest in all other people, of whatever religious persuasion. No, they do not try to force these people to change their viewpoint. They endeavor to imitate their Leader, Christ Jesus, by presenting Scriptural evidence of the trouble-free Paradise that will soon be established on earth.—Matthew 28:19, 20; 1 Peter 2:21.
Recently a clergyman in Brooklyn, New York, obtained a copy of the book The Truth That Leads to Eternal Life. He was so impressed with the chapter dealing with prayer that he used the book to teach members of his church this chapter in a special meeting. Later he was asked by one of them, “Are you teaching us out of those Jehovah’s witnesses’ books?”
He replied: “It is the truth, isn’t it? When you want Sunday-school literature, you buy it from several sources, don’t you? Well, Jehovah’s witnesses teach the truth. Furthermore, when you see Jehovah’s witnesses with the Watchtower magazine, you ought to take it, because they print the truth.”

No, they are not; however, like all cults, they believe they are the only ones to whom the truth has been revealed.
In order for a denomination to be considered Christian, it must conform to several core beliefs the Church has held since the time of the Apostles. The most central of these beliefs is that Jesus Christ was God in the flesh (JWs think He was the angel Michael). Because JWs deny nearly all of these core beliefs and instead build their church around a cult of personality, they cannot be considered Christians. I don't take any satisfaction typing this. It grieves me immensely.
I believe that a true Church, made up of the Body of Christ, preaches the inerrant Word of God to its followers. The JWs have consistently failed to do this in so many ways it's truely sad.
If you'd like to read a fascinating point-by-point expose(with actual copies of JW documents that prove they lie and prophesy falsely), go to http://www.blueletterbible.org/study/cults/exposejw/index.html

Yes, Jehovah's Witnesses are Christians, and their religion is true Christianity, patterned after the first century congregation.
It is shameful that Trinitarians repeatedly pretend that Jehovah's Witnesses are not Christian. Trinitarians use an artificial, trinity-specific definition of the term "Christian" which excludes anyone who does not believe that Jesus is God Himself, rather than the Son of God. Interestingly, pagans in the first century pretended that Christ's followers were Atheists(!) because the Christians had a somewhat different idea from the pagans about the nature of God.
Jehovah's Witnesses teach that no salvation occurs without Christ, that accepting Christ's sacrifice is a requirement for true worship, that every prayer must acknowledge Christ, that Christ is the King of God's Kingdom, that Christ is the head of the Christian congregation, that Christ is immortal and above every creature, even that Christ was the 'master worker' in creating the universe! Both secular dictionaries and disinterested theologians acknowledge that Jehovah's Witnesses are a Christian religion.
The Trinitarian arguments are intended to insult and demean Jehovah's Witnesses, rather than to give a Scripturally accurate understanding of the term "Christian".
In fact, the bible most closely associates being "Christian" with preaching about Christ and Christ's teachings. Review all the times the bible uses the term "Christian" and note that the context connects the term with:
"declaring the good news"
'teaching quite a crowd'
'open eyes, turn from dark to light'
"uttering sayings of truth"
"persuade"
"keep on glorifying"
(Acts 11:20-26) [The early disciples of Jesus] began talking to the Greek-speaking people, declaring the good news of the Lord Jesus... and taught quite a crowd, and it was first in Antioch that the disciples were by divine providence called Christians.
(Acts 26:17-28) [Jesus said to Paul] I am sending you, to open their eyes, to turn them from darkness to light and from the authority of Satan to God... Paul said: “I am not going mad, Your Excellency Festus, but I am uttering sayings of truth and of soundness of mind. ...Do you, King Agrippa, believe the Prophets? I know you believe.” But Agrippa said to Paul: “In a short time you would persuade me to become a Christian.”
(1 Peter 4:14-16) If you are being reproached for the name of Christ, you are happy... But if he suffers as a Christian, let him not feel shame, but let him keep on glorifying God in this name
So why do anti-Witnesses try to hijack the term "Christian" and hide its Scriptural implications? Because anti-Witnesses recognize that it is the preaching work that makes it clear that the relatively small religion of Jehovah's Witnesses are by far the most prominent followers of Christ:
(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded

No JWS are NOT Christian.
A Christian is someone who follows the teachings of Christ, and uses the Scriptures ONLY. Jws teach from their own man made books the Watchtower and Awake. Also they change what they believe constantly, so it is often difficult to know what they believe at any given time.
They have fortold the end of the world three times now, and guess what???? They have been wrong on three accounts!!!
What a surprise? They have their own version of the Bible which is a corrupted version and they refer mostly to their magazines, which you will all know if they have been to your door. It is NOT the Bible they give you, it is the watchtower, their own made up beliefs.
Christian NO.
