I don't want to commit the same error that you are complaining about, but it seems to me that mostly fundamentalists to this. Most fundies that I know have been brainwashed since they were toddlers to spew these canned responses instead of thinking on their own. That's where the problem starts. People don't think before they speak/type. I know that I am going to offend some people here and I'm sorry for that. But, this is what my expeirience has tought me. I don't think I met many fundies who would admit that any other religion contains some truth. Most are content to take cheap-shots at others' beliefs. I guess they feel more self-righteous by making others look like pathetic, hopeless sinners.

Again, sorry if I offended anybody.

i'm easily searching for a faith of varieties. no longer Christianity, or Buddhism, or Islam, or Muslim. i'm extra of a spiritualist than something, so i have been studying different styles of religion. specially Pagan religions-so a procedures as that is going. Wicca, Druidism, such issues as that. i'm no longer a lot petrified of replacing, as i'm of what a number of my family individuals will say. i understand i will likely get slightly detrimental potential (multiple my family individuals are extreme God-fearing individuals, they don't look going to take this properly) yet I purely don't sense linked with Christianity, or maybe although i became baptized many years in the past as a Baptist, I nevertheless felt disconnected, and that i continually have. I purely sense that faith is a important myth, a man made element. The bible, too. i don't sense like i want to remember on something to sense linked with God. acceptable this second, i'm purely soul searching to locate something that connects with my existence and the thoughts I easily have.

It's about human pride. Everyone wants to believe his dad/school/country/team/etc. is better than the others. So, when the hear something that supports this idea, they naturally latch on to it, sometimes without even realizing wht they do. The sin is in not bothering to check out the answer from the other side. One could be VERY misled.

Basically, because their religion tells them that their beliefs are the only true beliefs that exist. Thus, by the definition of being deeply religious, they MUST believe that theirs is the One True Religion. And if they believe this with all of their heart and soul, then why not denounce other people's religions?

On the one hand, Jesus said that we should remove the "log" from our own eye so that we could see clearly enough to remove the speck from another's eye. But He also said...

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

So if I have respect for a person, and I don't engage in "holier than thou" speech with a proud and arrogant attitude to boot, but I do point out to them what Jesus had to say, then I'm quite comfortable with explaining to them in a respectful way why they are on the wrong path.

They're insecure in their own faith, so rather than take a look at themselves because of their cowardice they decide to validate their spiritual choices by badmouthing others. It's the same reason why a kid becomes a playground bully. It's to make themselves feel big.

Same reason people are quick to denounce another culture, or sexual orientation, or anything really. People hate to look at the faults within themselves, so they turn to others to pick and degrade, I guess it makes some people feel better.

You should check my blog where I say pretty much the same thing! I believe it's man's narcissistic belief that his opinion and therefore his beliefs are superior to everyone else's views and opinions. It has been the cause of society's problems for thousands of years.

My sect believes there is good in all other sects and that all people have the right to worship how, where and what they may. We don't believe in putting others down at all. Anyone who is truly a Christian can not do it and in good conscience call themselves Christian.
