When you go get your belly button pierced, you will pick out your jewelry, then you will sign a lot of papers etc...then you pay...then they will bring you into a room and you with either lay down or sit up and they will clean your belly with betadine or something like that (MAKE SURE YOU TELL THEM IF YOU ARE ALLERGIC TO IODINE OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT) then they will mark it (where your piercing will go), then they put a clamp on it and they will take usually a 16 or 14 gauge needle and poke it though your belly button. Then they leave the needle in a thread the jewelry into your belly, and go through cleaning procedures...that's about it. Make sure to bring some cash to tip your piercer!!!! Good Luck... hope you like it and hope this helped.

I have several piercings. First and foremost go to a shop that allows you to watch them open the sterile package with the needle. Most say they always use new needles but I refuse to allow anyone to stick a needle in me unless I see it in the sealed sterile package first. They will have you lie on the table. Put a clamp on the area where they are going to pierce. The piercing is by hand not by a piercing gun. They will pierce and then insert the jewelry. It is a fast procedure and not very painful. Follow all after care instructions. Do not attempt to remove or change jewelry earlier than advised. I have had mine pierced twice. I don't recommend having it done a second time if for any reason you allow it to heal. Hurts like heck because of scar tissue. If for any reason you become pregnant..... Instead of allowing the hole to close, you can get fishing line (high test) like they use for sea fishing and put that through the hole to keep it from closing. Jewelry can become a pain during pregnancy.

I am not a piercer...but it's quite simple. They will mark the spot on your belly button, and pull the skin up with what look like tongs. Then they'll push the needle down through the belly button and push the ring UP into the needle (that part hurts the most)...and that's it. It doesn't hurt as bad as people make it out to be, really!!
