Some Christians make fun of atheists. It's what people do. When they don't understand something or think it's "their way or the highway," they'll poke fun or get violent.

Why do Christians demand we all believe what they believe? A lot of Christians want to make everything in the bible into law, enforceable by police and government. Why? Not everyone believes as you do.
I don't mean ALL Christians, just those who do.
*****************************
I notice that the Christians posting here all insist that we are "lost" or delusional or scared. And there is the common misconception that we have no knowledge of the bible. Most Atheists and Agnostics that I know are much more theologically knowledgeable than the majority of Christians. Why? Because they've studied the bible, read it many times trying to find the "truth". They've also read other religious texts in an effort to discover what they are missing.
Only then did they come to the conclusion that there is no God or that NO ONE can say for sure whether there is or not. Belief in God would be much easier if it weren't for all the people saying we'll burn if we don't believe. Not all Atheists and Agnostics are argumentative and contrary. Most just want to live their lives like everyone else does... working, loving, caring, contributing to the community, desiring a better world. We are no different than anyone else, we just have questioned what we've been told and found other answers. And there's NOTHING wrong with that.

maximum Atheists , Agnostics and individuals of alternative faiths and philosophies do not have any element to do one way or the different about/with Christians. many of the questions are truly trustworthy . you do not communicate for all Christians and that's exciting that you assume that you're addressing Non Christians completely yet many non Christians were and are verbally abused, threatened lower than pressure , insulted and assaulted by using people that declare to be Christian. So that's perhaps only a case of reaping what you sow

Oh yeah, there are no Christians trying to prevent me from getting married or prevent women from having an abortion. And there are no Christians trying to create their own little Christian town (Ave Maria). And, of course, there are no Christians out there who want to disguise their Creationism as science and force it into the classroom, or force students to pray from their Bible. Of course, I am so mistaken.
In case you're too stupid to know, that was sarcasm. I have a problem with Christians because they force their beliefs on others and then cry "persecution" when they're called on it. I have a problem with Christians because they have this arrogant assumption that they know everything about atheists (see answers above) when they know nothing. I was a Christian, I have the right to make claims about what Christians think, but most Christians were never atheists yet they feel the need to tell atheists what we think. I have a problem with Christians because they claim that they're perfect wonderful people, and turn around and condemn someone to hell and bash them because they don't agree with them. I have a problem with Christians because my own damn parents don't say two words to me these days because I couldn't help myself from falling in love with another female, and because I can't make myself believe in this idea of God. Don't you dare say Christians do nothing to atheists, because I'd have no problem with leaving religion out of it. It's Christians that like to bring it up and force it onto others so damn much. I have plenty of Christian friends and I don't care that they're Christian because they accept me for who I am. They don't feel the need to spew their religious nonsence every five minutes. But far too many Christians have a problem with grasping the concept of "live and let live."
(Too long for Spellcheck. Excuse the errors.)

Christianity makes a mockery of God. At the same time that Christians claim to worship God as an omnipotent, omnipresent, omnibenevolent being, they make him out to be incompetent bumbler. Or worse. Simple forgiveness is beyond his capacities. God must "sacrifice himself to himself to change a rule he made himself!"
This is not only an absurdity, it is an essential absurdity. It is present in almost almost all forms of Christianity, and one can scarcely remove it and remain a Christian in anything but name. By definition, all Christians worship Christ - in some form - and most worship him as a saviour.
But what, exactly, is he saving us from? Though it varies from church to church, no matter what they call it, it's God himself. A hell created by God, a world fallen as a result of God's negligence, a separation from God imposed... by God.
"It is a counterfeit love that is contingent upon authority, punishment, or reward. True love is respect and admiration, compassion and kindness, freely given by a healthy, unafraid human being."
- Dan Barker, Losing Faith in Faith
Christianity certainly isn't the first religion to promote appeasement of its gods, and if it were merely another supernatural protection racket, it would be bad enough. Unfortunately, it doesn't stop there. Christians elevate appeasement to the realm of "personal relationship", transforming their religion into a true monstrosity.
This is the type of "relationship" that abused wives have with their husbands, that brainwashed hostages have with their captors. It is known in clinical circles as Stockholm Syndrome. Should it come as any surprise that the cries of the church, "The Bride of Christ" sound much like the cries of an abused wife attempting to protect her husband?
"He must beat me."
"I deserve it."
"He has no choice."
"It's for my own good."
These excuses don't work for human abusers, and they work even less well for God. For if God is omnipotent, he must have a choice. And if we are flawed, we are only flawed because that is the way he made us. (No excuses that we ruined his perfect creation. A truly perfect creation does not self-destruct.)
If the Christian God does exist - and I see no reason to believe that he does - he's not worthy of the name.
And that is the ultimate absurdity of Christianity.

i'm Christian and i think the reason they make fun of us is because they're not really sure what they believe... a lot of athiests (not all, but the majority) believe that we're Bible-thumpers with a ton of rules and that we don't know how to have any fun... if an athiest will spend some time with us Christians, they'd know it isn't true...
Athiests I dare you..hang out with us... I mean really.... what have you got to lose?

"We do nothing to you."
Atheists are routinely discriminated against in Christian countries. We are regularly belittled, insulted, told that we are 'going to hell'. Statistics show that atheists are the least-trusted group in the United States. Your Churches are a giant smear-campaign against us and what we believe.
I've heard of pots calling kettles black, but this is more like the coalmine calling the kettle black...

Because they want to feel better about their decision to not believe. Just like someone makes fun of another person because they themselves are self conscious. It has nothing to do with you and what you believe in. Stand firm and do not let people like that bring you down.
