Well, if you want the advice of a middle school teacher. I have noticed there are mainly three types of students who are teased or picked on. The first is one who does it he/herself, the I can dish it out but not take it kid. The second is a student with something that makes them stand out, a stutter for example. The third is the most common, they are picked on because they are fun. The person that is doing the picking on is looking for a reaction, tears, anger, or whatever. The next time someone picks on you try being bored. Do not react, look at them as is they are something disgusting you just stepped in. If you can avoid the fun reaction they will move on. When my victim students follow this it does work.

People, particularly young people, tend to ridicule anything that seems or looks different to them. The sad part of this is, it's usually something about another person that really hurts or embarrasses them. There's no way to avoid this, but you can try to avoid being defensive or getting upset about it...that just seems to encourage the teasing. Do your best to either ignore it completely, or try telling the person that you feel sorry that they have such an empty life that the best thing they can think of doing is picking on someone else, then walk away.
