Largely, to make a point. Sometimes to share information I have, usually to try to dispel misinformation about non-Christians. To try to work through the minefield of faith to see what lies beneath. To learn a bit about human nature. Finally, to have a laugh and to let off steam!
Take care.

I gather points by *making* a point. If you look at a few of my answers, you will see that I usually like to make them long, and in-depth responses to whatever question is posed. I do not take my two points lightly. =)
I am passionate about revealing to others that I am not the stereotypical Christian that some would assume me to be. I want to show them (atheists or persons of other religions) that I am more open-minded and accepting than they would expect, and that they cannot make a generalization about Christians without meeting a contradiction in their statement somewhere -- I'm here to prove that Christians can be a lot more sensible than they'd assume.
At first I came to Yahoo Answers because I wanted to test my physics skills over in the science section. But as a Catholic Christian, I was interested in checking out the religion section here, and I was astounded by the lack of openmindedness of both atheists and fellow Christians alike. It's amazing how much a well-formulated argument can be respected as opposed to the usual "Jesus loves you" response. And so I've become bound by the questions posed, because I've been able to answer almost every one -- they're all opinionated questions, the best ones of all, I think. It helps my writing skills too, because I'm forced to persuade a skeptical audience to my suggestion that perhaps there are a few individuals after all who aren't brainwashed or ignorant on the Christian side.
As for the point system, I just enjoy gathering them! It helps win me credibility, and sets up some statistics to show me how well my arguments are coming across. My best answers are slowly racking up, and I don't know about everyone else, but it sure makes me feel good to get one of those emails that says I've gotten across to someone with my argument.
It's true though -- often I could be doing something a lot better with my time spent here. But I enjoy educating about my faith and defending it.

I'm passionate about Jesus Christ.
Askers who have twisted the truth in their questions, or the people who have misled them, put me into righteous anger.
Questions that are asked 'cause the asker thinks it's funny matter to me - I feel concern for their souls. How do you get across to people like that?
I'm not sure why I choose to answer Questions instead of doing something else.
So far, i haven't done anything with my points. (except one question about fish that no-one knew the answer to)

Here to make a point. I am passionate about my life, my family and I just want to help those who are in need. I can't stand mean spirited questions or questions that promote racism in any form. Ignorance is a big no no, too.
I choose to be here because I want to help others. Don't know what to do with the points.

I try to answer only questions that seem genuine.
I only answer questions that I have a biblical answer for when the poster is looking for it. I try to put my answers into current words and situations that people can relate to, rather than old words and such.
I choose to be here, because no one tells me I cannot teach the word of GOD because I am a woman. I read and study the bible a great deal, and feel I have been given knowledge to share.
I have no need for points. But I have to admit a feeling of joy when given a best anwer, points or no points.

I'm not concerned about points!...When I came on this site I really thought it was a good religious/spiritual site where Believers can share their spiritual blessings with each other, encourage each other, and possibly share things concerning GOD to those who don't know GOD!....In stead, this religious/spiritual forum turned out to be a Night Mere!....Non-believing atheists GOD HATERS have more than proven on this site their HATE, through Verbal Abuse, Mockery, Rude, Disrespectful, and Insulting Remarks!.....Ps. I see some true believers have left this site and I'm not long behind them!...I like the fact that once and a while some one logs on this site because they are really serious and I get good feedback, that's the only reason I've stayed this long!......ps. I agree with the person with no name...we hope you are here for the right reason!

I love this site even though there are some real creeps on here sometimes. but definitely more good than bad. I think the govt. should have a system like this, so real people can actually have a say in things. a majority rules type thing happening. I try answer the questions the best I can.

I am on here to actually make a point, unlike most of the people.
Unfortunately, it seems we have many more Christians on here than anything. It wouldn't bother me, except I've found through reading the answers to many questions that Christians rarely try to make a point logically. They just quote a bible verse and say their God is amazing. I'm on here to explain why I believe the things I do ... and I think I normally do a pretty good job of it.

I have always been good at listening and offering logical advice. Last couple of years I've uncovered alot of truths about this existence on all levels and can't seem to find people who are willing to want to know real truths, so this is perfect for me. I get to share what I know and help others at the same time. Nice release for me. Don't really care about the points but do hope that my answers are read.

Getting points really means nothing because it is not like you can buy a car or something with the points. Making a point is important, you can have or make an impact in the way someone is thinking and the decision they are trying to make.
