I am Christian but I am so sick of hearing other Christians saying that just because someone rejects God and Jesus they will go to hell. If an Atheist is a good person throughout his/her life and did not commit any major sins, why would God send them to hell? Would God send a good person to hell just because that person did not believe in him?

Some of you say that no matter how good of a person an Atheist might be on this Earth, they will not go to Heaven? If that is true then God is vvery selfish. It is like discriminating! JUst because you don't believe in him you go to hell? I love God as our creator but if this is ture then he is unjust. I am not a God fearing as the rest of you Christians, God should let all good people into heaven no matter what their beliefs are. I also disagree with "spreading the gospel," shoving your religion down others' throats is disrespectful to those people's beliefs.

Some of you say I am not Christian. I am a proud Christian and I love God just like a Father but, just like my own father, I tend to disagree with him sometimes and I am not afraid to express my concerns regarding Him. You should not use the Bible to justify your answers because I don't agree with everything in the Bible either. Good Atheists should go to Heaven!

Thank you thank you!! You are the first religious person I have ever heard say that!! That is exactly how I feel...I dont condemn religious people and say that they will only turn into dirt when they die but I have been told I will go to hell by many religious people. I do believe in the ideals and morals in the bible and I believe in being a good person and loving all creatures of the earth and I have practiced those beliefs and morals. If when I die there is a god and I was mistaken in my beliefs, from what I have read... as long as I was a good person here on earth he will forgive me for my lack of faith and I will go to heaven if it does exist. My only beef with so-called believers in god is that they always judge me but if they truly believed in their religion they would know that god is the only judge and therefore would not judge me themselves but rather leave it up to their supreme being. Also I have a problem with people that are religious but still do horrible things but say god will forgive them if they believe in him and after they confess they are absolved etc I think if you believe in god you wouldnt do evil things in the first place.... I think that if you molest a child or torture animals there is no forgiveness no matter how much you pray. I believe that you need no faith in god to truly be a good hearted person....

I honestly would like to know this too. I know many people who have no religion who are much better people than many so-called Christians. I don't understand why a loving God would reject people for merely believing what is around them rather than what other people are trying to force on them.
Will God, if there is a God, reject me because I am agnostic and readily admit that I'll never know whether he exists or not? To me, it seems wholly unfair. When I say this to Christians, they always just tell me to become a Christian, because if I don't know then what it the difference, right? I might as well cover that base. But I cannot bring myself to invest myself in something I can never truly believe; that would be simply hypocritical. I have other reasons for living a good, moral life, and if, in the end, there is a God and I don't make it into heaven, then I guess I'll have to accept those consequences.

Well, i read your post about hating soldiers and was kinda pissed about it, but then I read this and I like it. Good thinking, exactly how i feel and that is why I am not Christian. I am not Atheist either, I just don't know what to believe cause there are so many choices:) I will never choose to follow people, I will always have my own mind and thoughts. I just hope you realize that as soldiers, we are following orders and are not all bad people, there are a few bad apples as we have seen in the news. I still think we cannot leave because another country can easily take over the country right now and cause even more damage than you could even imagine, but I do agree with you, we need to hurry up and end this war, I am tired of worrying about deployments.

Think about this...Where would God send someone who did not believe in Him? Even more, why would someone expect to go somewhere that they don't believe in? Why would they want to go? How could you believe in heaven and not God? What would be the purpose of heaven without God?
Any sin, even the smallest little lie, will separate us from God forever. In order to get to heaven you cannot have sin at all. The only other place is hell when you die. God cannot even have the tiniest speck of sin around Him because he is holy (separate from sin). All of us have sin in our lives. So what must happen to sin in someone so that they can stay out of hell and go to heaven? SIN MUST DIE! All sin must die so that we can be with God in heaven. Sin died on the cross with the physical Jesus. Jesus took on all the sins of the world; past, present and future sins. If you don't believe that happened then you still have your sins with you. If you BELIEVE that Jesus took your sin and the sin died with Him on the cross and that He rose 3 days later then you can and will go to heaven. Jesus makes us pure in order to present us to His Father, our Father! That's the truth.
Many people believe that being good gets you into heaven but there is ONLY ONE WAY to get there. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. No matter how good you are you will go to hell if you do not put your trust in Jesus, which definately requires you to believe in Him.
The fact that you asked this question and in this way gives me clues to the way you believe. You said that you were a Christian but Christian means follower of Christ, not a good person. Jesus Christ was good but He made it very clear how to be a follower of Him. A true Christian would most certainly know how they became a follower and that if you did not become a follower of Jesus Christ by asking Him into your life then you aren't a Christian. If someone who is an Athiest or even someone that believes in anything other than Jesus will go to hell because that person is not believing upon Christ Jesus.
I don't want to upset you with any of my words here but you should definately re-evaluate what a Christian is and if you prayed to God for Jesus to come into your heart.
Also no matter what religion you are (Baptist, Methodist, Catholic, etc.) just read your Bible and all the answers are found there. Don't take my word for it or your pastor or your best friend. Take THE WORD and read it every day. Really.
Here are some verses to get you starated and all of them pertain to your question.
Romans 3:23 Romans 5:8 Romans 6:23 Romans 10:9
Romans 10:13 John 3:16 Jeremiah 29:11-13
1 Peter 3:15 Email me for more if you'd like.
I am about to pray for you now.

John 5: 24 (Jesus speaking), "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned..."
John 13: 6, "Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
The Bible clearly says that the only way to heaven is through Jesus Christ. Being a "good person" has nothing to do with it. Sin is all the same in God's eyes. Even if someone only said one small lie their entire life and didn't except Jesus as their savior, they would still go to hell because any sin separates you from God. Jesus bridges the gap between you and God that was caused by your sin.

I am an Athiest, and I have to say THANK YOU! Everyone seems to think that because we don't believe in God, if it turns out that there is a God, then we will go to hell. Now, I don't believe in God, but if there is a God (which I'm not saying there is) why would he send us to hell for not believing in him? You are exactly right, and you have just proven to me that maybe there is a tiny bit of hope in the world that some Christians actually respect Athiests

God doesn't send people to hell. Period. He wishes more than we could possibley understand that "none should perish". A man's choices send him to hell. "For the wages of sin is death." Every single one of us is hopelessly selfish (therefore sinful.) There is nothing that makes a Christian any better or any more valuable of a person than an atheist. God loves us all the same-more than we could understand and more than any one else will ever love us. Unfortunately, we're all doomed by our own sinfulness. Thankfully, Jesus paid the price for our sins so that we wouldn't have to.

God isn't going to send a non-christian to heaven just because they were a good person. He doesn't look for the sins. He loves sinners. I'm not tryijng to be mean or anything, but if you don't accept Christ as your Lord and Savior, you won't go to Heaven, no matter how good you were here on earth. The thing is, God created the earth and us, and when we reject him, it's our fault and not his. He gave us a free will to either accept him or go to Hell. If you choose to go to Hell, and you don't sin alot, you're still going to Hell. It doesn't matter if you never sinned at all, or sinned alot. You will still not go to Heaven.

Plenty of people are living in hell here on earth (see Palestinan kid in gaza city)
I think the heaven hell argument bases itself on fear. Im going to do x y z so I dont go to hell.
Good people do good because its good. What true christian/muslim/catholic/jewish/buddish/agnostic person can justify the accidental murder of a child during a bombing? Im agnostic for a reason.
So what if I go to heaven or hell? Im just going to be the best person I can be and help as many people as I can. Ill worry about death after I die.

No, my perception of God is that God is all knowing and all seeing. If a good person did not commit any major sins he would have conducted his life in accordance with Gods way. It would be a contridiction to God laws to send this person to hell i think. People who are extreme fundamentalists tend to see things in black and white which can be limiting. (each to there own i suppose hope this helped)
