I just read an article recently that cell phone signals excite a part of the brain. The study used males and GSM phones though, so maybe it is sort of addicting.
Maybe they should of thrown in a few soccer moms also as test subjects.

I understand completly...I am a female and I do not own one mostly because the phone was made to talk on and now there is so many things on it that people pay way too much for stuff that they either cant, dont, or will never use...no point in them if i need to use the phone i will use the phone of whoever i am with....

One woman answered that women are always checking up on things and i agree with that. i am on my cellphone a lot because i have a lot of things to do and a lot of friends that i don't see very often so my cell phone is a nice, easy way to keep up with events and people. and as far as it being rude to use your cellphone in public. here is the thing. ITS PUBLIC. cell phones are a part of life now, a lot of people have them, and i guess overhearing someone else's cell phone is a risk you just have to take when you walk outside. to everyone who reads this, i am sorry if you have ever been present when my phone rings, i didn't mean to ruin your day out in the public with my electronic noises. as for talking and driving....sometimes it has to be done, i say if you are able to talk and drive safely (i am able to do it but i dint talk on the phone and drive unless i absolutely have to) then by all means go for it. that's what a cell phone is for. talking. and blue tooths or whatever are kinda goofy.

I think it's because a lot of women (no, not all...I'm not labeling) are always checking up on something, whether it be family, friends, work, etc. They're making sure everything/one is going as it needs to go...personally, I HATE talking on a cell phone, and one of my biggest pet peeves is to be out in public (mostly restaurants and shops) and someones obnoxious cell phone ring tone blares throughout.
The worst about it is actually businessmen, from my experience. They tend to be much more phone-hoggish when it comes to mobile.
Hope this helped. :-)

I don't have mine plastered to my head but I do keep mine on in case of an emergency. But I do hate those people who have those bluetooths. I mean has America gotten so lazy that they can't even pick up the phone anymore? And trust me a bluetooth doesn't make people look important. It only makes them look like they are about to morph into an alien. But if people want to go around pretending they are secret service then they can stay in fantasy land.

Here's something for you to think about: Regardless of how many women actually drive around with cell phones "plastered to the sides of their heads", they are still better drivers (in general) with less tickets and accidents than men. Don't believe me? Call your local auto insurance broker and ask. Women are given lower insurance rates for a reason. We can "handle it": we're "multi-taskers"...!

That is the BEST question I've ever read! I would love to know that as well. I would also like to know the answer on why people MUST talk on their stupid phones while I'm ringing them up for a purchase at our register at work. How F'n rude!

Spare me! I've seen plenty of guys who have a cell phone plastered to their head. Nice generalization... I suppose all guys refuse to ask for directions, too? I really can't stand stereotypical jackasses like yourself...
