Atheist: do you have absolute knowledge? No, in fact you couldn't even tell me how many hairs are on your left arm. The statement: 'There is no God' defines 'ATHEIST' and is an absolute statement that requires ABSOLUTE KNOWLEDGE. I believe it was Edison that said we do not know 1% of anything out there. But lets just say that the athiest reading this has a whopping 50% knowledge of EVERYTHING in the universe. That means you know what is under and in 50% of the moon rocks, 50% of all sea creatures, if we say you have 50% knowledge of EVERYTHING (which is impossible for you to have this amount) but let's say you do. Here is the question: Is it possible, that there is ample evidence for the existence of God in the OTHER 50% knowledge that you have yet to discover? If you are honest, you must say it is POSSIBLE the evidence exists cuz you don't have 100% knowledge! So therefore by the very definition, you cannot be an atheist, you are agnostic. You must now say you just don't know!

Look in response to some of the answers: VEENTEAM you said "the person only needs to know that there is no God, and with that known"
Well duh, that is what I am saying YOU CAN'T know 'there is no God' without 100% absolute knowledge of everything in the universe!!!
NESS788: The atheist cannot exist, to make the statement THERE IS NO GOD is like saying THERE IS NO GOLD IN CHINA ... you MUST have absolute knowledge of what is under every rock in China to make that statement. What if the atheist just hasn't uncovered the evidence that proves God's existance??
And you said that people won't read more than 10 words...??? You did.
I am NOT saying we can't know anything, I am saying that with the limited knowledge an athist has they cannot make the statement that God doe not exist.
And people are not atheist because of tragedy, they still can't KNOW to make the statement there is no God. But if they would ask why bad things happen, or read the Bible, they would know.

To those who say I can't KNOW if there is a God... and especially to the "Christians" that say this... The Bible says Draw nigh unto God and He will draw nigh unto you. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God exists. He has drawn near to me only because I have drawn near to Him.

As has been mentioned already, an atheist is someone who lacks a belief in deities. It is absolutely absurd to claim that the stance of atheism mandates perfect knowledge on the matter. What about someone who doesn't believe the hysterical accounts of people who claim to have been abducted by extraterrestrial aliens? Shouldn't you also be deriding them for not having perfect knowledge?
If you are claiming it is untenable to hold a position of skepticism of the existence of an entity, then surely you must believe in Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, Bigfoot, invading Martians, the Invisible Pink Unicorn, the Flying Spaghetti Monster, and the Time Cube. Or do you have perfect knowledge of the universe to say any one of those does not exist? The fool hath said in his heart, I dare not think for myself.
I recommend watching fewer "Way of the Master" episodes. The "Gold in China" reference was a dead give-away.

Isn't god meant to be all around and in everything he created? So if i know 50% of all knowledge, and he isn't in any of the moon rocks i know a lot about, then isn't that proof he isn't there?
Many people say that about god, he is in everything.
Basically most Atheists use the logical answer that the concept of a god does not fit not any rational thinking of the world. Like saying i cant say for certain that an elephant isn't in the film canister, but i can say for certain that it wouldn't fit if anyone were to claim it was.
If you honestly think it is this easy to prove that an atheist cant exist, how come you cant simply prove a god exists?

Do you realize this is a stupid post that most people won't bother to read more than 10 words of? I read the agnostic thing, and I'll say, I am agnostic, but if someone is atheist, don't tell them they aren't. You're not sure that god is real 100%, so by your (very little) knowledge, everyone must be agnostic.

Either knowing or not knowing would be "absolute knowledge", however you're defining that.
Also, if you say that you can't know any one thing for certain unless you have 100% knowledge, then how can you even have partial knowledge, such as 1% or 50%? You don't know everything, so how can you know something? Your knowledge of God is as fuzzy as your knowledge of the number of hairs on your left arm.

Im a christian and I really like the example you made. I have read a Book by a man named Ray Comfort called "God dosen't belive in atheist". thios line of reasoning makes perfect sense. in fact the only person that has absolute knowledge is God. and why would God want to deny his own existence?

You cant know there IS a god you can only have faith and believe, by the same token I cant know there is NO god but I can have faith in that and believe. No one can know for sure what is not proven but everyone can have faith in what they believe in!! SO stop condemning what you dont believe in and start accepting that there is a 50% chance you are wrong and a 50%chance that other people are wrong. When you die you will find out if you are right.....lets just hope if there is a god he isnt as judgemental as you.

I am an atheist. I do not claim 'I know there is no 'God''
I do claim that christianity is BS.
Look up the definition of atheist
here is a few places for you to look for help in understanding a general definition of atheist. .
Honestly look into the understanding of atheism. It could be that you have something to offer. But mislabeling people is not going to get you far. Just try not labeling people at all.

If you are not agnostic yourself, then you are a huge hypocrite.
Isn't God supposed to be omnipresent - i.e. everywhere? They've been telling me he's in the _other_ moon rocks and the_other_ sea creatures my whole life...
Why don't people understand the difference between knowledge and belief? Why don't _Christians_, for God's sake, understand this?

Sorry, but this doesn't work. As a Christian, I wish it did... but it doesn't. All the person needs to *know* is less than .00001% of the data out there - the person only needs to know that there is no God, and with that known, resolves any inherent contradictions. The person doesn't need to *prove* that - but only to know it, or only need for it to be true.

before you go and get all bent out of shape, you should realize a good portion of atheists are such because they have had some horrible event in their lives that they can't come to terms to why God would allow such things
