A regular domestic short hair cat. No need to get a special breed.

Any short hair cat is a good cat. Hell, any long haired cat is a good cat. Cats are wonderful in general. I just got two domestics the other day and they are so sweet and so playful!! Go get a shelter cat! give it a furrever home!

As stated above...a domestic short haired is just fine. But if you want to spend the money on a "pure" breed, Siamese are pretty nice cats.

The absolute best cats are the Manx cats. They have incredible personalities. I have 2 Manxes (born without tails). They are "dog-like". Extremely loveable, follow you around, enjoy car rides, can be leash trained, will retrieve their toys & at times bury their toys too. Some even enjoy water (mine do not). My boy cat is 19 lbs, has huge paws, & a huge head & a loving heart as big as Texas! Both cats are very loving with my baby.... happy cat hunting...

I'm fond of Abyssinians. They're fun and have fur that doesn't show to badly when you wear tweed. One warning - they DO NOT like to be bored. If you do not have someone or something (another cat, dog, bird, something) to keep them amused while you're at work they will either bolt or have fun with everything they can get hold of. And they are brilliant at that. But they really are great fun.

I have all domestic short hair "muts"....and love them dearly! All 3 were throw aways.

However, I've always thought it would be fun to own an abyssinian. I think they are beautiful, smart, and loving.

I love siamese cats. THey have wonderful lively personalities, but you can find them a dime a dozen at your local shelter. I found three mixes that way, and one of them, January, Is absolutely beautiful- she looks purebread.
