SF wouldn't be what it is today if it weren't for the GLBT community. It's one of the most visited holiday destination points on earth.
Happycheeks, given that fact it would hardly be a place where some "unfortunates" reside. Trust me -- it's a fortunate thing.
Many of my straight friends fly there several times a year for a weekend getaway. If you're involved with someone or are married, it can be a very romantic getaway!
Don't let what you may hear deter you from visiting. Once you've been there, you'll understand what I'm talking about and you'll fall in love with the place. There's so much to see and do.
SF has some great civil projects as well, some leading the nation in fact. For instance, they've taken an innovative approach to solving its homeless problems ... a solution that is both good for the community AND the homeless population as well. Do a Google and read up on the city. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

san francisco is what i hear anyway a gay city, a disgusting city and their mayor is a lunatic, their mayor said that we should eliminate the entire united states military, people that i havce met from there are mostly air head liberals, and its ok to be a liberal if you want, they bring it to an extreme

i've been to san francisco but that was only at an air port. i've never really been in the city tho. so i got no clue what its like.
