On the Border? Hard Times? Macaroni Grill? Good lord, it's like these answers are sponsored by the Bad Food Association of America.

There's a local chain of burger places called 5 Guys, which are some of the best burgers in the area. In Washington DC there are quite a few places that are good food and cheap without eating crap like Macaroni Grill.

Check out MixTec in Adams Morgan at 18th and Columbia. Radius Pizza in Mt. Pleasant is good as well. In Cleveland Park check out Nam-Viet Pho 79, which is a cheap Vietnamese place. The Pho (a kind of noodle soup) is very good, and huge portions for under $6. Also, check out the Bosnian food at Cosmopolitian Cafe in Alexandria

I live in Northern Virginia, too. It really depends on what you want to eat and what you mean by "cheap". Ledo's is good for pizza, Italian and subs and it's inexpensive. Olive Garden is a fairly inexpensive Italian chain. I love Macaroni Grill; it's a little more expensive, also Italian (I must like Italian). There is an awesome Chinese place in Bristow called Asian Garden. Entrees are roughly $10-$20. There is a great Mexican food place called On the Border and there's one somewhere near where the PW Parkway hits 95. I think most of the entrees are between $9 and $15....That's about all I can think of for now. I hope this helps.

i do not delight in the common quick-foodstuff places like the McD or BK's. i am going to apply thecontinual through and %. up an occasional soup or salad if i'm determined (out utilising) and do not experience like going into an section for a table. in the different case, i love the coolest ol' formed 24/7 diners we used to have decrease back contained in the city ... regrettably, they're a uncommon breed around the position I stay now. i do not suggestions many of the chains - quite steak or meat and potato places like Ruby Tuesday or TGIF yet I refuse to bypass anyplace that has the be conscious "warm" or "Chili" or "Spice" some thing contained in the very call of it. Nope sir, I do exactly not like it. there is one extreme priced eating position we bypass to about two times a 365 days - the foodstuff, provider and ecosystem are stunning - yet it truly is a actual nighttime out for us; a deal with.

Ditto on the 5 Guys burgers!

Also try Crystal Thai in Arlington, VA (Wilson Blvd/Clarendon area) for great Thai at great prices; El Tamarindo on 18th and Florida Ave NW for wonderful Mexican, and there's about 30 Ethiopian restaurants in the city. Most are on either 18th Street NW in the Adams Morgan neighborhood, or on U Street NW in the Cardozo neighborhood. Ethiopian is almost always a great bargain and it's really yummy plus you get to eat with your fingers!

One of my favorite places in the DC area is Hard Times Cafe, on King Street in Alexandria. Best Chili in all of DC.
