The soccer world cup event is amazing. Like the Olympic games, it occurs once every 4 years where the entire world comes together to compete at a single sport.
It is a true world competition, unlike the annual super bowl (only US teams), the world series and Stanley Cup (both only the USA and Canada), etc.
World Cup soccer is symbolic of the USA's relationship with the rest of the world. Most Americans don't understand soccer and most other nations don't understand Americans. Interesting.

This is the only team sport where you can truly be called "World Champion."
This is why the US stinks in "soccer." This is the only country that gives futbol another name.
You disrespectful slackmonkeys, your US team will never win a World Cup.

It depends on where you live. I was stationed in Germany for several years in the military and became a semi-fan of soccer since German TV did not show American sports.
We think they're crazy and they think we're crazy.
Hey, it's better than going to war.......:-)

I went to this soccer day camp afew years ago and i thought i was good.... And then i tried to get on a team and they said i sucked so i quit doing that...Now I'm in kung fu.....So i guess it's good...âº
