I found in my experience of lossing weight, that as long as I did cardio at least 4 times a week I progressed. I guess it would just depend on why your doing it to lose or to maintain. I have lost 62 pounds and am a maintain position and I only do cardio about 2 to 3 times a week....Good Luck

We have a personal trainer in our family. He says exercise, such as walking, or aerobic's, which encourage a gradual increase of your heart rate to what is determined to be your 'safe' heart rate, and retain that heart rate for a period of at least 20 minutes, then with a cool down to normal heart rate and stretching is the most effective and 3 - 4 times a week is adequate. This makes you sweat, strengthens your cardio-pulmonary system(s) and you can control your conditioning according to your individual bodily limits whatever age you are. It is a wonderful option when compared to some of the exercise programs which encourage to overexert without learning to listen to your body....and leave you feeling like you have run full speed into a concrete wall when you are through. This is why most people shy away from exercise. They havent found the one that makes them feel good, rather than left hurting and washed out of energy. Educate yourself on the type of fitness training compatible to your personal needs....it isnt the same for everyone....just like what you eat in your diet.....and when you figure it out....you will feel so much better, it will be something you LOOK FORWARD TO doing on a regular basis. If you ignore your health, it will go away. God Bless.

It depends on what you want. If you want to lose weight you'll need to hit it for 5-6 days a week and give yourself one day a week off. You don't have to do the same cardio workout every day, you can do classes, or other cardio to mix it up. Be sure you begin slowly and work yourself up. 20 minutes is minimum and this should improve steadily.

At least three times a week ... not more than five.

Your body needs time to rest, rebuild, and strengthen your system.
