The family I work for (as a live-in nanny) as this adorable golden retriever. She was trained as a hunting dog and is very well behaved. I'm not sure her age. Anyway, I have an approx. 1 year old Bengal cat. I know she likes dogs, because her foster mother said, AND all the dogs we've seen while walking, she's been fine with, and even tried to run over to a chihuahua that looked ready to bite her, trying to play with it. But Sybil doesn't like the family dog.

How can I help them to get along?

The cat will have to make up her own mind. But introducing them on neutral territory might help.

Good luck!

Bringing a dog and cat together is often a hit or miss situation.
Some animals will get along from the beginning. Others take time. And some others simply can’t exist in the same household.

Cats are stubborn, especially as they get older they adopt their own ways. It may take some time introducing the cat to the dog. I wouldnt interfere you may make mattters worse. Just give it some time and hopefully they will get along over a period of time.

I don't think that is a possibility. The cat wants to be #1. It is only natural. The dog could care less.Try keeping the dog out of the cats space. Have them meet in neutral terriotory.
