Is it hard to become a seabee? I heard they don't need seabees right now.

I wanna be a Construction Mechanic and i would like to know what exactly they do? Will i be fixing vehicles and will i be able to get a career as a vehicle mechanic in the civilian world for being a construction mechanic as a seabee?

I just wanna know if i'll be fixing vehicles??

Should i just go AF and be a vehicle mechanic, but even though they don't guarantee a job?

I am a U.S. Navy Seabee currently assigned to recruiting duty. Becoming a Seabee is not hard as long as your ASVAB scores are right. Seabees and Seals are the main people we are hireing right now. CM's fix everything I brake (I am an Equipment operator). You will get to work on eveything from a HUMMWV to a 55 ton Rock Dump. You can also get your ASE certification. Yes you will be fixing vehicles. Check with your local recruiter to get detailed info and to see if you are eligable. If you go Seabee you won't regret it! I have been doing it for 11.5 years and still love it. Good luck!

My understanding is the US Military has need of mechanics in your category in many differing branches. The Sea bees however are an exceptional mobile multi construction force that once put ashore charge even up mountains, knock the top off, build a complete airfield complex, kick any ones *** who tries disrupting them, finishes, shacks your hand, politely asks if its OK, then charges off back down the hill, reboards its ships and sails off into the sunset.

Having briefly explained their activities (without even remotely letting on what a great team they are) there's 1 other point to note.
They sure are mean fighters and don't like being inferred with. I can't recall who's the meanest, even their cooks will come out and throw U off the hill if U try interferring. Yep. Its one hell of a smart unit.

My cousin is a seabee... I'm not sure about the vehicle part he does construction and heating and a/c stuff. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to do mechanics if you let them know that's what your interested in when you enlist.
I agree don't go Marine...they brainwash you...once a marine always a marine.

hard ,i doubt it because we are in a conflict now and they need bodies.and you want to be a mechanic, well since seabees are constructing things it stands to reason they are BREAKING things too, thats where you come in with your wrenches and stuff now you also mentioned air force ,well they call their guys (unoffically of course) the DIRT BOYS-just this soldiers opinion but SEABEE sounds much better than DIRT BOY! and there is a little known outfit called the U.S. ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS that has a dozier or two for you to wrench on

If you insist on joining the military, go AF. I was Army, my husband was Army. My cousins were/are marines.
Don't ever go marines. Don't ever go Army. Forget all that gung ho crap and never mind the values.
Go AF. Don't worry about them not guaranteeing your job. The AF takes much better care of it's members and their families. It moves you around less.... you will have more choices in the end.
Good luck.
If you have the opportunity to go to college or a trade school and are not in an abusive situation, I would stay out of the military. Go to school.

Depends on the NEC you choose and the CB rating you get. Not all CBs are mechanics. and they ALL are expected to fight.

ever hear the phrase "first we dig 'em, then we die in 'em". Same concept.

If you strictly want to fix car/truck engines, then look into the other branches.
