Ok, first of all, Jesus did NOT commit suicide. He was killed by Roman soldiers. And killing yourself has NOTHING to do with doing something for Jesus. He would not want you to kill yourself. However, if someone had you at gunpoint and said they were going to kill you if you said you believed in Jesus, you would be a martyr if you died, like the girl in the Columbine shootings. By no means should you die on purpose.

It is worth noting that some faithful men and women in Bible times expressed profoundly negative feelings about life. Rebekah, the wife of the patriarch Isaac, was once so distressed over a family problem that she said: "I have come to abhor this life of mine." (Genesis 27:46) Job, who suffered the loss of his children, his health, his wealth, and his social standing, said: "My soul certainly feels a loathing toward my life." (Job 10:1) Moses once cried out to God: "Please kill me off altogether." (Numbers 11:15) Elijah, a prophet of God, once said: "It is enough! Now, O Jehovah, take my soul away." (1 Kings 19:4) And the prophet Jonah repeatedly said: "My dying off is better than my being alive."—Jonah 4:8.

Are you kidding? Jesus has a purpose for what he did and he knew he would be resurected, Suicide is a Sin! Live for Jesus that takes more courage and more work but in the end is far more rewarding! If you cannot stop thinking about suicide then take yourself to an emergency ward and explain how you feel to them!

I am a Christian. First of all, you are NOT God. Only God can
Do this. He sent His Son, Jesus, to die for our sins. If you kill
yourself, you are playing God and you WILL go to Hell. God did
give us free will, but you are asking too much. It is not for you
to decide when you will die, it is up to God. If you want to do
something for Him in return, then give your heart to Him and
accept Him as your Lord and Saviour. As a Christian, He gives
us opportunities to serve Him in many ways. One of them is
counseling. I would counsel you not to kill yourself with a knife.
Are you depressed? Do you have a plan? If so, you need and I
do stress NEED to be hospitalized. You need to be on meds to
help you through this. Yes, it is bad for Religious purposes. You
will spend eternity away from God if you commit suicide. You
do NOT want that. Take it from me, that is not the way to go.
Choose Life! Jesus already died for your sins. You are not
Jesus, therefore you do not need to die. Do you understand me?
Surrender to Him and He will give you a ministry and that is how
you can do something in return. Do you see? You must get
some help. Tell me you won't do this. I am concerned for you.
:) Read the book of John in the New Testament - you will learn
much there. It all starts when you become Born-Again. Try it!
You'll like it! :)

If you're catholic, commiting suicide is ony the ultimate sins. If you're any form of christian, suicide is almost gauranteed to be considered a sin.
You see, the thing is that people aren't sure, under any circumstance, on how to serve the Lord and his son, Jesus at all. Most people do their best by praying every day and going to church, trying to appease God and his son with their prayers, yet at the same time, get help from them as well.
It is all very confusing...

Why would you do that? That is not what we are told to do in the Scriptures, we are told to repent and believe that Jesus is God.
If you have something telling you to kill yourself, then it most certainly is not from God, but from Satan.
Have you been involved in occult activity? Have you been to a seance or a spiritualist meeting or been and had your fortune told? All these things we are told to stay away from. Read the Bible and read the gospels there you will find a God of love who came from Heaven to earth to die for us so that we don't have to die. We can have eternal life. Christ came to give us life in all its fulness's, killing your self is not helping God and I am sure that you have family who love you. They would be devastated.
Do you have the Samaritans where you live, we have them in the UK and you can ring them if you feel suicidal, perhaps you have something similar where you live. I suggest that you give them a ring.

Maybe you're confused by the difference between killing yourself and dying for what you believe in. Killing yourself is just killing yourself - nothing more. Standing up for what you believe in and dying for a cause is entirely different. Jesus didn't commit suicide. Jesus allowed himself to be crucified because it was part of fulfilling a greater plan, namely, atoning for the sins of the world so people like you and me can repent and return to Him.

Hey i am a christian. And to my knowledge Jesus did save us and did die for our sins. And yes i do believe i would die for him also. But you wanting to kill yourself for Jesus Christ is completely opposite of actually dying for our sins. Also to my knowledge suicide is the most number one unforgiven sin. Sorry if i am sounding mean or something but the way i have been taught is don't kill yourself. Jesus did a great and wonderful thing by offering his self for us to be able to live. So the answer to your question I think yes it would be bad for religious purposes. Don't kill yourself. You can stand up for your beliefs and Jesus but don't you go and kill yourself.

First of all, in order for your sacrifice to have any redemptive value, you would have had to have lived a life free from sin. Otherwise you wouldn't be a "lamb without blemish" who could serve as an acceptable sacrifice in God's eyes.
Secondly, Jesus has already paid for the sin debt of this world so your act would be an insult to Him. It would be like saying "I don't think the work you did on the cross was sufficient so I'm going to finish the job that you left undone for you".
