asking you what you are doing? My mother does this to me frequently and I am 24. And if I tell her what I'm doing its not like she is going to understand, so why does she ask?

If you are going to be having your Mom living with you and your family for an extended period of time, you are going to have to learn to set boundaries and keep them, or it could become far too stressful on you all and take a heavy toll.

If you don't know how to set boundaries, or what they are, or where it is and isn't applicable, there are some excellent books on the subject. Also, I would recommend talking to a counselor, if even just a few sessions, to get some recommendations.

It is not at all out of line for you to be able to tell Mom that you would like to have your privacy sometimes, that it bothers you to have someone looking over your shoulder, and it;s not because you are doing anything you sohuldn;t, you just dont like it.

Best of luck to you.

P.S. Things won't change if you don't make them change.

Yes it would definitely annoy me. It's sometimes hard for family members to realize that you still need some privacy, even from them. Does your mom want to try using the computer? If she has a hobby that she is really into (like gardening or something) maybe you set her up with an account and show her how to go into a chat room for gardening. But if she is not aware of the internet much, then you should "hover" over her so she doesn't go somewhere she shouldn't! lol

Its probably just a mother instink(sp?) still. I know I may be fifteen, but I dont really have that problem. Just, I know a lot of parents fear what their children might do, and getting into the habbit its like "What are you doing!?" So many things us humons have gotten into by the internet today, so many others fear for their loved ones. Frankly, I kind of wish my parents gloomed over my shoulder here and there.

My kids are looking over my shoulders all the time. It drives me crazy.

Why do you live with your parents? Get a job and move out!

You should tell her that you are too old to have her watching over you all the time like a little kid. Let her know that you are growing up and you dont like that.

hell yes it annoys me, i have my mother staring over my shoulder, and makes sure i'm not chatting with boys (i'm 15) then my brothers look over my shoulder and say,"MOM, ASHLYN'S LOOKING AT PORNO!!!!!!!!!"(when i'm not, usually Y! Answers) then i get grounded, not for the lie that my brothers said, but for beating the living dog shitt out of them......

sorry about the life story..... i just had to let that out to someone... sorry!

Well it is hard to get a different Mom and they are even harder to train! So can you close a door? or find something for your mom to do besides watch you.

Some of you didn't bother to read her post carefully. She said it's HER house.
