The pre party with no gifts. The families will get to know one another and not be stressed about opening their gift when it is a duplicate or not as expensive as the other family brought! Gifts can be and usually are given at the reception. I think it is more appropriate for a 2nd marriage and doesn't put so much attention on the gifts. The attention is on the celebration of your love and joining together and sharing it with close ones. The bride has already recieved gifts and the groom's family and friends can give as they like without a list to go by!

well if she were to have a shower then i guess it could be a couples shower. but if it were only girls, then give it a theme like lingerie or cocktail hour. at most bridal showers the gifts are to set up home, and she probably already has what they will need. i like the idea of a pre-wedding party w/o gifts. in this time so many of engaged people have started living together so they have alot of what they need. it's hard to decide, good luck and congrats to the couple.

I think that maybe a theme shower would be best. Just because someone was married before, doesn't mean that they shouldn't be allowed a shower with friends and family. But the reason for a theme shower is that she/they probably already have most of the things you need to make up a house. It could be really fun.

If this is the first time, this couple is getting married, then it would be a good idea to give them a bridal shower. Yes, they do deserve to receive gifts. Invite their friends and relatives.

A couples shower would be acceptable. This is a new marriage starting out and should be treated just as any other would be.

The more gifts the better, give them a shower. It will be nice and they get more stuff out of it.
